What is the penalty for failing a school-administered drug test?

Each NCAA member school is responsible for determining whether to establish an institutional drug-testing program, at which time the school would be responsible for determining applicable penalties. If a testing program is established, though, the school is obligated to enforce the penalties. Failure to do so can lead to NCAA sanctions.

The arguing about this reminds me of the scene in Major League where they are trying to argue the ball being too high.....who cares, "its" gone.

i beleive the last line says they have to adhere to ncaa policy, but your the lawyer. like i said it seems we had this dicussion a few times and that's where we landed.

as far as i know ndsu does not have an established policy. and if it does and it allows for multiple fails....well lets just say beyond disappointed.

MAK. God bless you, but get your head out of your butt.

    The NCAA is a maximum.

NDSU can kick athletes out for a number of reasons. By your logic, they wouldn't have to go unless they got caught smoking twice.

[Nono Wood] Mr. Good-at-football, you have failed out of UND and will no longer be able to be a f'hawker.

[Mr Good-at-football] But, I get to smoke pot twice. I get to smoke pot twice!!!

"Those who are badly off must go there."
"Many can't go there; and many would rather die."
Scrooge- "If they would rather die," "they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population."

"The NDSU policy is separate and distinct from the NCAA drug-testing program although the NDSU policy contains the same list of banned drug classes and likewise prohibits the use of both performance enhancing substances and substances that may be hazardous to a student-athlete’s health such as many street drugs."

"Any person who tests positively for any of the drugs listed on the list of banned drugs is subject to:

    . . .

    5. Possible suspension or dismissal from their respective team."

Not trying to call you out MAK, this is all new info to me so I decided to dig into it. As far as I can tell institutional testing is completely separate from NCAA testing and there is no reporting requirement.

feel free to call me out all day long if i am wrong. but lets lay a few things down frist.

the rumor being spread is this is the 3rd failed test given by the dismissed athletes and 1st by the one suspended for a game.

    do we agree on that?
