I'm saying San Diego has the toughest 2nd round opponent.

Oh why not , just makes the pile higher and deeper.

Sagarin's take on the lines home team in bold:

    James Madison
    -21.0 over Stony Brook 94%
    Southern Utah
    -4.0 over Weber State 62%
    South Dakota State
    -9.0 over Northern Iowa 74%
    Central Arkansas
    -16.5 over New Hampshire 89%
    Jacksonville State
    -8.5 over Kennesaw State 74%
South Dakota -2.5 over Sam Houston State 57%
    Wofford
    -1.5 over Furman 55%
    North Dakota State
    -30.0 over San Diego 99%

Straight-up just a smidge over 6 out of 8 correct would be a good day for the projection.

Just to give you an idea how important seeding the correct teams is, the difference in home field and a week off versus not is over 9.5 points in theses projections. 5 of the 8 2nd round games are within that margin. That isn't to say that all 5 of those were mistakes by the committee, for instance given a choice between seeding Kennesaw St or Jax St the committee got it right but if they've have made that mistake the advantages conferred would be significant enough to upend the projection.

We all live in stories... It seems to me that a definition of any living vibrant society is that you constantly question those stories... The argument itself is freedom. It's not that you come to a conclusion about it. Through that argument you change your mind sometimes... That's how societies grow. When you can't retell for yourself the stories of your life then you live in a prison... Somebody else controls the story. - S. Rushdie

UNI has a good chance to beat the bunnies. Farley has the defensive scheme that already took them down. I wouldn't be surprised if UNI wins again.

Does anyone know why non scholly schools are included in FCS or allowed to be part of the playoffs? Does the Ivy League allow athletic scholarships, and if not at least they are wise enough to opt out of the playoffs. If they do have schollies it would be better to have them be part of the playoffs than the non scholly schools that will never make a deep run.

The Ivies do not have athletic scholarships. The Patriot has only adopted scholarships in the last few years.

I'm going to guess this was all about Dayton. They won't let them compete in DIII so they had to accept a non-scholarship DI arrangement for equity's sake.

I know several of the schools in the Pioneer were that way. Butler used to be D3 in football, but the NCAA required schools to compete at 1 level. Several schools didn't want to add the expense of D1 football scholarships so the Pioneer League was a compromise. That's why the teams are spread out around the country. I believe they are mostly private schools that have a lot of endowment money so many of the players do get plenty of financial aid. That being said, it's still amazing that USD has beat 2 playoff teams from the Big Sky conference. Even if the BSC team wasn't worthy of being in the tournament, that is an amazing accomplishment. They are doing something right in southern California.
