I'm not sure I've seen such a delusional fan base since Sam Houston going into the first national championship game. Not sure what I'd enjoy more, them losing early (especially to South Dakota) or them coming to Fargo and losing by 4 scores.
I can imagine that thought process. The line would be something like, "Man, I did a little research into the MVFC. Turns out that when they play each other they are only a .500 team. Historically we are WAY over .500 when playing teams in our own conference. I guess some teams take care of business and others lose unless they are the overrated bison."
I saw an insightful comment on the jaxstate board--and of course everyone just ignored it. It was that UCF is undefeated, yet they aren't mentioned as a top team because they haven't played anyone yet. So a team like UGA or even Clemson, with 1 loss each, is still "more respected" than UCF.
The whole "respect" thing seems like a pretty big deal to them. When you play and win you get respect. When you don't play or don't win you don't get "respect." Respect is given as a result of winning. Winning doesn't occur as a result of respect. But maybe that just feeds into their excuses for not winning.
