SDSU Post Game Thoughts

I should not need to say this but I will, correct me if I am wrong with any of the following observations:
1) why do we continue to run the jet sweep and never hand it off anymore? Not saying we should run it but if we continue to do it don't you have to hand it off once in a while?
2) The offensive line at times seems to let rushers through and Stick scrambles to save his life. Maybe run the middle screen some and boom big play.
3) Been said many times - More cowbell oops I mean TE passes.
4) Press coverage on WR. I do not believe we tried jamming JW or DG on the LOS saturday.
5) Play action to help with deeper routes.

OK fire away and what I am wrong at or that is just plain stupid.

Nah, we seem to have forgotten what got us here. There is an all or nothing approach on both sides of the ball, if we don't get to the QB, they can do whatever they want, if we don't connect on a bomb, we're screwed.

That's not Bison football.

Didn’t jam to limit big plays.

They scored 16 points outside of turnovers yesterday.

All in all, I think defense was fine. They are going to put up a few points. We just can’t turn over the ball 5 times.

Just wanted to pop on here quick to give Bison fans a tip of the cap. I've been on record on this forum and ours for having nothing but respect for how Bison fans get behind their program. Saturday was no different. The Bison faithful found their way into the stadium and took over our downtown to watch the game. It was very impressive. Although I have to say it was nice for the game in Brookings to not be another Bison home game.

The tradition, following, and backing of your program is truly special and is something that we aspire to. I know I'm preaching to the choir on here. My hope is that we won't get a chance to see each other again until Frisco rather than the path of the last few years. I pull for the Bison when not playing the Jacks.

For the record, every Bison fan I ran into after the game, and there were a bunch of them, was more than complimentary to the Jacks about the win. They all said that we were the better team that day and gave a tip of the cap. They also pointed out, that the real games that matter are in the playoffs. That is true and I couldn't agree more. We have beaten you during the regular season the last two years but as we have found out numerous times that beating the Bison in the playoffs is a whole other animal. I mean that with respect.

Thanks for posting! Many of us had a good experience with the Jacks fans. Sometimes it's best to initiate the smile/friendliness, & they were cordial right back to us. Many Bison & Jack fans visiting in the restroom (about the cold weather & travel conditions) as well as in line for concessions. Even spoke to the Jack fans from FARGO.... who were very welcoming! A little kindness goes a long way when you're "on the road."

Seriously, I know the history. I didn't say anything about his shirt should not have been pulled in fact I think its a very good idea as could still redshirt next year and get the year back.

I was talking about Brooks and Anderson being hurt. It is not like they needed the rest from over use.

He did not look ready to be on the field on Saturday though in the running game.

Who said Bruce and Ty were hurt? You seemed unaware that Dunn was shut down with the hip and Purifoy's knee. Why not have somebody else ready to take a snap? I'll defer to the coaches as to who is "ready" an who isn't. Playing a true freshman is never where we'd like to be but it happens. What's your alternative? Dress two RBs and cross your fingers? Hope is great plan. Who else should have been in the game? Seriously. Who?

I haven’t talked any smack here post game. Like at all. I’ve done a bit on twitter, but I haven’t said anything but call some of you out for being silly about that hit. My god man. Tbh talking trash after the game just doesn’t do that much for me, it’s more fun when it’s before the game and it’s up in the air.

Because Thumper is a good guy...plain and simple. When the Jacks lose he comes back out to the tailgate to take any abuse that will be thrown his way. He comes on here to let us enjoy our victory at their expense. So, he is also awarded the right to come here after a win. He isn't rubbing it in anybody's face...but he also can question when we make excuses or cry and complain about whatever. He has always enjoyed teh smacking...both giving and taking. He'll be the first to laugh at a shot taken at his team.


Anybody that gets bent out of shape over Thumper needs to get over it...and possibly grow up a bit.

On a more serious note...I'm thinking all this "glee" of Thumpers is just an act. I mean, he has been to more Bison tailgates than Jacks. He's turned into a Bison fan...he just isn't ready to announce it yet. I don't think he even likes to hunt.

Nice, according to Jeremy on the Insiders the woman ref couldn't find her flag on the missed PI that was the worst missed call I have seen in a long time. Was this the same woman who called a personal foul for a totally legal hit, no question, in the Eastern Washington game last year? As far as I am concerned she is incompetent and looks out of place. She needs to go back to NAIA or high school games.

The chick official in the last Marker called some horrendous targeting call on your safety that got overturned I believe.

Your going full stupid here if you believe that Wilson was ready to be in that game in the second half with the game on the line. You really don't know me around here if you think I was not up on the Injury situation. He has potential to be a great back but it was not the right situation to get him touches. It is nothing I have not seen before in the last few decades when a young player gets thrown into the fire, the game has not slowed for him yet, it's not high school anymore. Hopefully with more practice reps he gets to the level of more than a emergency player this year but until then we have done well many times with a 2 person rotation at rb.

Top MVFC teams are developmental. We played a cupcake front end, took injuries anyway, and now we’re behind. It’s on the coaches to fix and I believe they can, but the last two games are going to be very tough.

As others have noted many times now, there’s a model out there on how to beat NDSU. Stack the box and use physical borderline legal coverage to force the QB beat you. This puts pressure on Easton, but he has to embrace it, because it’s what we’re going to see from here on out.

It may not have turned out in favor of the Bison, but what I was most impressed by about your team is the incredible discipline they showed on the defensive side of the ball. There were the 2 trick plays they had sniffed out, and at least 3 of those dump passes inside to Goedert that were defended very well...Goedert even had to play defense on the one. It was a fun game, I have my doubts about whether SDSU can do it again if (when) we meet come playoff time.

SDSU is a scary team to face since their offense is very good and a few plays here and there can throw off the Bison offensive strategy. If the Bison limit their mistakes I think they win more times than not, but the bunnies will make you pay if you screw up.

Next year will be interesting if they can keep it up with their two stars gone. This is their year to make some noise in the playoffs, because once their two big receivers are gone (probably in the draft) it will be difficult for TC to keep things going without the mismatches they provide.

I think we have some depth in the receiving corps and true frosh Skyler Cavanaugh has been very impressive in limited action at TE.

Obviously it will hurt losing two guys to the NFL, but I think we will be just fine next year on offense with TC returning at QB.

Also wanted to reiterate what others have said about NDSU fans. I talked to a few at tailgate and walking into the stadium and they were gracious and fun to talk with. You guys show tremendous support for your team and make the games even more fun to see in person. Sorry to hear some had a bad experience interacting with parts of our fan base, just know we aren't all that way.
