I think coach learned last year the value of having OOC games where you get lots kids reps to build depth. Was the Saturday game all that much fun as a fan? No, but getting those 2's and 3's valuable game reps will pay dividends as we progress through the meat grinder of the MVFC.

The FCS national polls are going to be interesting this week.
7 top 25 teams lost, so the Missouri Valley Football Conference should be at peak power.

While Top 25 voters will have to sort through a lot of teams in the No. 15-30 mix to get a comfortable order for the rankings, they may simply look to the Missouri Valley Football Conference to fill out the Top 10. Monday's new rankings may include five, maybe six Valley teams. Second-ranked North Dakota State, No. 4 South Dakota State and No. 6 Youngstown State will likely hold serve, and South Dakota, Illinois State and Western Illinois (off a rout at FBS Coastal Carolina) are in the mix for the Top 10.
So with this week's poll, assuming Western Illinois makes the top-10, the 2017 NDSU schedule of 11 games will include 6 of those games being against teams that were ranked in the FCS top-10 at this point of the season. Eastern Washington is still at #11 after their come-from-behind victory over the Griz in Missoula, but started the season in the top-10.

Well, STATS did not quite get all the MVFC teams into the top 10.

    2 - NDSU
    4 - SDSU
    6 - YSU
    10 - USD
    12 - Illinois State
    13 - Western Illinois

Western should be higher. They get no respect.

Agree, well, they get the Bob Nielson reunion game this weekend against the Coyotes. Win against their former Head Coach, whose USD is at #10, and they'll get in for sure next week.

Interesting. That weird first half where we were dominated in TOP was unique from what we typically see. Certainly made up for a lot of that in the second half though.

And it does help that we played the worst team in the conference to start, and now we play the second worst team in the conference this weekend so that should help as a stats booster as well.

I'm impressed with the balance and depth on this year's team. We can win with passing, win with running, win with defense. We can win with when key players get hurt. While things could change, I really like the way this is setting up for the second half of the season and a playoff run.
