To have an FBS each year (if we could even get it) essentially means, of course, an FBS AWAY game every year. NDSU's highest priority, however, is 6 regular season home games, and both ML and CK (and Gene prior) have made no secret of that. With an FBS EVERY year, that would essentially mean the elimination of any FCS home and home deals (because the year of our return trip to an FCS opponent would mean only 5 home games instead of 6). Therefore and theoretically, NDSU would want an FBS game in the years that they hosted the HOME portion of any "home and home" arrangement, or, in practice, every other year.

I know you know this ............... just wanted to clarify for others.
Yes, I believe that's the current plan. Until the past few years, NDSU didn't struggle getting a FBS opponent.

2006 - Ball State and Minnesota (five home games)
2007 - Central Michigan and Minnesota (five home games)
2008 - Wyoming (six home games and first year of MVFC play)
2009 - Iowa State (five home games)
2010 - Kansas (six regular season home games)
2011 - Minnesota (six regular season home games)
2012 - Colorado State (six regular season home games)
2013 - Kansas State (six regular season home games)
2014 - Iowa State (six regular season home games including first year home and home games with Weber State [Away] and Montana [Home])
2015 - NONE (six regular season home games including second year home and home games with Weber State [Home] and Montana [Away])
2016 - Iowa (six regular season home games including first year home and home game with Eastern Washington [Home])
2017 - NONE (six regular season home games including second year home and home game with Eastern Washington [Away])
2018 - NONE SCHEDULE YET (six regular season home games so far including first year home and home game with Delaware [Home])
2019 - NONE (six regular season home games including second year home and home game with Delaware [Home] and quasi-home game at Target Field)
2020 - Oregon (at least five regular season home games including four MVFC games and Drake)
2021 - NONE SCHEDULE YET (at least four conference regular season home games)
2022 - Arizona (at least four conference regular season home games)
2023 - NONE SCHEDULE YET (at least four conference regular season home games)
2024 - Colorado (at least four conference regular season home games)
    Hail the BISON!!!

Bison 56 - Robert Morris 10. (Scientifically calculated to the highest degree)
I would argue that Delaware is not a low level FCS team. Nor is Eastern Washington for that matter.

Robert Morris will provide NDSU experience against a 3-4 defense

Bison Head Coach Chris Klieman says there are some good things about playing this game at this time.

"I think the style of play this week will help us because Robert Morris is totally opposite of Eastern Washington. Robert Morris wants to run the football. They're going to get into more what we call conventional formations like we do with a tight end, fullback and defensively they're going to be a three down front which we're seeing more and more in our league so that'll help us prepare for our league as well," said Klieman.

I believe Western Illinois is running a 3-4 now, and the Coyotes are using it as part of their defensive package.

I can hear the coaches. I don't think the volume level is sufficient.

Also appears to be a defensive drill... I'm not sure they understand how this works.

Speaking of which...I haven't heard of any complaints about the warm up music being played in the dome 4 hours before kickoff being too loud this season. Are the old people ok?
