Bianchi is too low in the coaches panel. He beat Hudkins head to head and you can make a case to be as high as 25 pretty easily. He has a huge match vs Brown and if he wins it, the B12 likely gets another AQ spot.

Cefolo has no business being as high as he is at 133. Cam is probably ranked close to right, but no way Cefolo deserves to be above him. You can argue Cam belongs at 23 since he beat Cefolo and crushed Montoya every time they wrestled.

Very Surprised to see big Dan ranked. Can't believe he is in over Harrington. Harrington majored him, is 19-9 this year, and was an NCAA qualifier at 197 last year.

Overall the B12, especially the affiliates not named SDSU, are ranked far too low in several instances, IMO. There are going to be a bunch of weights where the B12 is going to be right on the edge of getting 1 or 2 extra AQ spots. At this juncture, the hope has to be that ranked B12 conference guys win out and some B10 and East coast schools lose some head scratches.

For NDSU, Clay is the only lock for NCAAs. If he wins out vs SDSU and wins the B12, he'll be the 8 seed in NCAAs at worst. 6,7,8 seeds can be drastically different this year at NCAAs, with Nolf's injury and Kemerer getting one of the other top 3 seeds. Getting Hidlay/Lavalle in the quarters is much better than facing either Nolf or Kemerer. Pantaleo is the one guy I would not want to face in the R16 that could be seeded 9,10, or 11. For Clay, I'd like to see Pantaleo do well at B10s and Shields to take a loss for ASU before NCAAs.

    PRIMARY CRITERIA FORMULA

On Feb. 21, wrestlers in each weight class will be measured on the following: winning percentage (Win ), rating percentage
index (RPI) and coaches' ranking (CR). Win is defined as Division I wins divided by total Division I matches contested. RPI
is defined as Win *, opponents' Win *, opponents' opponents' Win (17-match minimum). CR is defined as the weight
class-specific ranking as determined by the NCAA Division I Wrestling Coaches Ranking Panel.

"Note: Each wrestler who has 17 matches will have an RPI, without the requirement of the wrestler's opponents to
    have 17 matches, as well
    .

Wrestlers must also have wrestled a minimum of eight matches at the championships weight class. Wrestlers who meet or
exceed threshold levels for all three measures will be labeled "Gold Standard." Wrestlers who meet or exceed threshold levels
for any two of the three measures will be labeled "Silver Standard." All Gold and Silver Standard wrestlers will earn a qualifier
position for their respective weight class at their respective qualifying event. If a wrestler earns a Gold or Silver Standard
label and does not compete in his conference or regional qualifying tournament, the qualifier position that was earned by
this wrestler for his qualifying event will revert to the at-large pool. unless the wrestler who earned the qualifier position is
replaced by a wrestler who also meets or exceeds the threshold levels for that respective weight class. If a qualifying event
does not have any Gold Standard or Silver Standard wrestlers at a weight class, one qualifier position will be allocated for
that qualifying event's champion at that weight class. The committee will allocate the number of eligible automatic qualifiers
of the 330 championships field using the primary formula. Threshold levels may slide up or down in concert (i.e., slide up to
.BOO Win , top 20 RPI and top 20 CR or slide down to .700 Win , top 30 RPI and top 30 CR) to achieve a total number of
automatic qualifiers in the desired range. The maximum number of pre-allocations per weight class shall be 29.

    SECONDARY CRITERIA
On March 7, wrestlers in each weight class will receive an updated Win , RPI and coaches' ranking that includes all
competition through the qualifying events. Wrestlers who meet or exceed any two of the following criteria will be labeled
    "Bronze Standard":
    • .700 Win
    • Top 33 RPI
    • Top 33 CR
    • .700 winning percentage against all competition
    • One win against a wrestler receiving automatic qualification via an earned position (preallocated)
    • Qualifying event placement one below automatic qualification

Only Bronze Standard wrestlers will be eligible for selection as at-large qualifiers. A wrestler must have participated
in his respective conference or regional qualifying tournament in order to be considered for at-large selection to the
championships. The NCAA Wrestling Committee will use the following weighted criteria, in priority order, to evaluate the
    Bronze Standard wrestlers:
    • Head-to-head competition - 25 percent
    • Quality wins - 20 percent
    • Coaches ranking -15 percent
    • Results against common opponents - 10 percent
    • RPI- 10 percent
    • Qualifying event placement - 10 percent
    • Win percentage - 10 percent

"Note: Coaches' Ranking ~ A wrestler must have wrestled five matches at the championships weight class to be .eligible to
be ranked in that weight class. He also must have wrestled at least one match in the 30 days preceding each ranking pen?d
in the respective weight class. If a wrestler does not meet each of these two criteria, he will be removed from the ranking list
    for that ranking period.

Building on GladiatorDad's numbers, this is where the conference stands right now as I see it.

The nominal thresholds are 25/25/75, but these can slide down to 20/20/80, or up to 30/30/70. So, I show three numbers for each weight, from the most to least stringent.

Wt: Most Stringent - Nominal - Least Stringent
    125: 5 - 6 - 7
    133: 3 - 4 - 5
    141: 3 - 3 - 3
    149: 3 - 4 - 6
    157: 3 - 3 - 4
    165: 4 - 6 - 6
    174: 3 - 4 - 5
    184: 2 - 3 - 3
    197: 3 - 3 - 4
    285: 2 - 2 - 3

For our guys, Ream would get a spot with the most stringent thresholds, Fogarty would get a spot at the nominal thresholds, and Bianchi, Sykora, and Gliva would only get spots with most relaxed thresholds.

I think there are only three guys that might be able to improve their current positions by getting enough matches for the RPI (Keegan Moore, Jacob Seely, and Jacob Smith). The other OKST guys are pretty solidly qualified, and the AF guys are pretty solidly out.

To be fair, NDSU destroyed #17 Air Force and also beat #6 CMU and #3 Cornell.

Actually, on second look, this is a terrible list. They pretty much put mid majors with good records on it with no thought given toward it.

Example: Ranking an Air Force team 17th that they went 4-0 vs D2 teams and wrestled one of the worst D1 dual schedules in the country and got beat by NDSU 33-7. Binghampton a top 10 mid major? Laughable. Atrocious schedule and they lost to SIUE and Michigan State. Good one NWCA...

NDSU is better than many teams on this list.

I agree with you that this list a little suspect. I would say that NDSU would beat more than a handful of the teams listed here.
