    What I found interesting was the rankings of the next three FBS opponents that NDSU faces.

    Oregon is #29, Arizona is #42 and Colorado #54. Right now Oregon would be favored by about five points. Arizona would be favored because of home field advantage. Colorado is going to learn the hard way that their mascot is a Bison and not a buffalo.
    Hail the BISON!!!

    Oregon game will be interesting to see how many Bison fans make the trip, but for that Arizona game lots of Bison fans could could be in attendance with all the Alumni in the area. I will definitely plan a vacation around that trip, maybe even start my retirement that year. There will be lots of Bison fans making the road trip on I-10 from Phoenix to Tucson!

    In 2015, NDSU was rated #32 in the Sagarin preseason ratings. I don't track the predictor values.

    Preseason ratings for recent years:
    2017 = 48
    2016 = 36
    2015 = 32
    2014 = 46
    2013 = 49

    NDSU starts at #35 for the rating and #34 for the predictor. I'm not sure if that's the highest they've ever started a season at but it wouldn't surprise me if it is. 5 MFVC teams in the top 6 and 8 in the top 25 (FCS only).

    EDIT: And somehow they just moved down to #36 for both.... apparently the data entry is still happening???
    It's OK to not be OK.

    49 in 2013? I know NDSU ended in the top 25 i believe. even received votes in the national poll, which they probably should every year but they dont.

    That's the beginning of the year vs end of year. Beginning of year considers some weight from past years. In 2013, we didn't have a several year history of strong track record at D-I level. Now we do. In 2015 and 2016, we did. I suspect that's the difference.

    2013, I think we finished at #17 or something ridiculous in Sagarin. It may have already been mentioned here.

    You are correct about 2013 final ranking

    One of the more interest aspects of that image is how bad Louisville's schedule was that year...
    The weather in Fargo keeps the undesirables out.....

    ...Which is why I live near the Twin Cities.
