    IMO, Hunter wasn’t a FB at NDSU, and he won’t be one in the NFL. He’s an RB, you put him back there and give him the ball. He a Derrick Henry type of Runner. Yes, he can block, and he can catch the ball out of the backfield, but he doesn’t belong in a FB box. He’s a power feature back.

    In the mold of Christian Okoye or "The Bus"?
    That's a pretty good mold.

    He's always reminded me of Peyton Hillis.
    North Dakota State, a football team the big boys of college football should avoid like the plague, helped christen a $90 million renovation to Snyder Family Stadium — including a statue of famed Kansas State coach Bill Snyder himself — by taking a sledgehammer to the place.

    The Cowboys also drafted Chris Klieman’s main weapon in the 6th round, RB Deuce Vaughn. Great value for Dallas with Vaughn and Luepke! Vaughn can be that small, change of pace weapon and Luepke the Hback style weapon.
    And to put a little more perspective to Hunter Luepke’s guarantees:

    Tom Pelissero
    @TomPelissero

    One of the biggest commitments ever to an undrafted free agent: The #Vikings signed former Army edge Andre Carter II to a deal that includes a $40,000 signing bonus and $300K base salary guarantee. A sign they believe Carter can make the active roster.

    Caught a couple blog items....sorry for UND inclusion lol

    Use the fullback
    It’s a dying position in the NFL, but the Cowboys likely didn’t sign UDFA Hunter Luepke to fill the traditional fullback role. They are probably eyeing him as the short yardage specialist as well as a lead blocker, and his skill set seems to make it possible for him to play as a traditional running back as well. He has the best shot of any undrafted player to make the roster, and while he may be used sparingly, he could be very effective when he is deployed.

    Well, let’s go
    Forgive me, for I have punned. OT Matt Waletzko (UND) was injured in camp last year, and was only active for three games. The staff seems high on him to emerge as the new swing tackle this year, allowing Tyler Smith to stay at LG all season to maintain continuity. The real pipe dream is for him to become Tyron Smith’s replacement going forward. The staff has also been experimenting with him as LG in OTAs. We know they love them some position flexibility. It’s a lot to hope for, but hey, that’s what this whole article is about. The offensive line remains a complex puzzle for the Cowboys, and it would be excellent for one solution to already be on the roster.
