    Default Iupui receives horizon invite

Many thousands are in want of common necessaries; hundreds of thousands are in want of common comforts, sir."
Scrooge-"Are there no prisons?". "Plenty of prisons..."
Scrooge-"And the Union workhouses." . "Are they still in operation?". "Both very busy, sir..."
"Those who are badly off must go there."
"Many can't go there; and many would rather die."
Scrooge- "If they would rather die," "they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population."

Umkc doesn't want back. This was the best team to lose considering it doesn't affect other sports.

How many more team's can the Summit lose before we lose our auto bid? 2 years down the road is going to be VERY interesting.

Could lose UND and/or USD. Any other school creates problems for baseball and/or men's soccer.

    Denver: MSoc
    IPFW: BB, MSoc
    NDSU: BB
    UNO: BB, MSoc
    ORU: BB, MSoc
    SDSU: BB
    WIU: BB, MSoc

    EIU: MSoc (associate member)

Easiest solution? Trade IPFW(BB, MSoc) for UNC(BB) and UMKC(MSoc). Only maintains the status quo, but at least it does that. Helps travel a bit and creates an opportunity for Summit football if a nuclear option is needed in the future.

    Travel Partners
    DU/UNC - 60mi (1:20hr)
    NDSU/UND - 75mi (1:15hr)
    SDSU/USD - 115mi (1:45hr)
    ORU/UMKC - 270mi (4:00hr)
    UNO/WIU - 350mi (5:30hr)

The only problem with your solution is that it leaves Western Illinois out on an island and the only benefit to them of staying in the Summit is that it allows their football to stay in the MVFC. If they got the chance to move to the Horizon, they would likely be allowed to stay in the MVFC. If the Summit League nuclear option is implemented, Western Illinois would likely head to the Ohio Valley, which would leave only 5 Summit League football schools.

Maybe you yotes should help out for once and start up BB and MSoc.

Not that much of an island, and I can't believe the Horizon will ever be interested in Macomb. I'd be more worried about them dropping football or dropping to D2/3 than getting a Horizon or OVC invite. (not worried about any of those scenarios)

At the same time, I think Summit football should only be looked at in an absolute worst case scenario. Say every other option has failed and UNC is the only choice, but the MVFC absolutely won't give them a home. If it's down to the death of the Summit or forcing football, only then would I support the nuclear option.

Regarding Summit football, I wonder if NAU would be in play if NMSU dropped to FCS and the Summit made a play for them. It's a sh!tty drive from Flagstaff to Las Cruses(7.5hrs+), but maybe adding NMSU as a rival might be worth it to them. SUU is a couple hours closer on sometimes questionable roads. Weber and Cal Poly are a little further away than NMSU(borderline bus or fly depending on finances). All the rest of the Big Sky is definite flying distance. (12-16hrs of driving)

Sounds like Horizon will look to expand next year to as they want to get 12 teams. WHo else besides IPFW can we dump off to them? Maybe they will take WIU and UNO out of the Summit.
