So put yourself in the coach's shoes (you're good at that). The team doctors tell you these guys can play but they're not 100% so they're at a higher risk of re-aggravating the injury (or injuring something else trying to compensate) knocking them out the rest of the spring and potentially part of next fall as well. Do you play them now or do you wait until the medical personnel say they're 100% ready to go?
I'm being presumptuous here too with that scenario but I'm just trying to point out that this isn't as simple as it would be during a normal season followed by a full offseason.

For the record, I do think it’s a little weird that he’s not listed on injury reports anymore but is still not playing. It’s at least interesting, and from a “coachspeak” standpoint I don’t see what’s wrong with “So n so is still dealing with an injury, is day to day for now” rather than speculating it’s a non-injury related scratch, which would be concerning.
That’s how I see it unless I missed something.
