2017 Preseason Polls

UND is much improved. They understand their schedule wasn't tough, and I think their playoff collapse probably helped them this off season. That had to sting. Until they beat someone, they still have that "prove it" factor to me. If they go to USD and dominate, then I will listen. Them being ranked 5th is hard for me to undersand as I honesty have 5 teams easily ahead of them in the Missouri Valley. But, they will eventually play in the best conference in FCS so this will all be mute. Excited for football season, for camps, for verbals to start rolling in. Quite a time to be a fan.

Heck, they should be used to the sting by now. In 2015 they didn't even make the playoffs and supposedly that was going to drive them to great things last year. I guess the inspiration wore off in the second half of their first ever playoff game.

Not bad but I would drop SHSU. I really don't think they are a top 5 team and until they can demonstrate some mental toughness under Keeler when they actually play someone they don't deserve to be grouped with the heavyweights

They play Richmond, who is a preseason top 10 team, this year in week 0 so we'll find out who they really are early.

It's certainly not a meaningless game but back to back years of looking great in regular season, getting to crunch time, and then looking like the worst team in FCS tells me something is wrong there.

I think they're a really good team deserving of a top 5 spot in the preseason considering what they return but I also think their playoff belly flops are a direct result of a team with not much mental toughness because they play in a Charmin soft conference. They're not nearly as bad as their playoff exits the last two years have made them look but they don't seem to know how to compete when they get punched in the mouth because that just doesn't happen to them in their conference.

Correct, thus they aren't a top 5 team. Top teams can compete with other top teams. Honestly, I'd be embarrassed to see NDSU lose that badly to Alabama much less an FCS peer. You might be right about them, I'm just feeling that they need to prove it, and prove it somewhere other than the southland (thus playoffs)

As far as the shit hawks go, there is 6-7 teams on that poll ranked below them that should be ranked ahead of them!!! They played nobody last year and it showed glaringly in the playoffs!!! They have to prove themselves!
