LOL. I think we all suffer from Dunning Krueger, too.

Something coming into play here for you, I think, is the fact that NDSU won 12 straight from 1981 to 1992. Therefore they never actually lost the trophy, so it was likely that it wasn't a big deal that it was retained.

I just did some digging around and found a picture of NDSU celebrating in with the nickel in 2000. This was after UN_ had it for a couple of years. They seem pretty happy...

I am not trying to start anything, but in spite of the history, I would be very surprised if any of the NDSU players today care anything about the nickel.

I thought it was our tradition that attracts recruits, but they don’t care about a dusty old trophy?

I am just guessing that is the case. I would think this might take their mind off of it.

So how do we qualify “dusty old trophies” if we don’t call that “tradition.” Byeg-one days? Times of old?

    Yeah, way different.

The difference is a trophy case full of the ones we have and one we never will have. Even if there is another trophy between the schools it won't be the nickel. That is way different.

Are we saying the same thing? It sounds like the same thing. Dusty old history means something. Diminishing a part of our history doesn’t help our legacy.

As a former player who played for Nickel, I could give two fucks what they do/are doing, with it. It’s actually laughable.
