Why are you talking about 7 Yard Santiago in our recruiting thread?

IIRC Santiago’s All-American designation was as a return specialist for 2 of those years, not as a RB. Again IIRC! Could be wrong.

Other than his freshman year when he got a whopping 4 carries against NDSU (which has an elite defense), his numbers in his other 3 MVFC games (2 vs USD and 1 vs MSU), are all within the range of other games he's played. Actually out of those 3, his least impressive game was against MSU but he only got 12 carries.

I know you have a better eye for talent than coaches and media members who pick the All-American teams so I guess we'll just have to go with your assertion that he is overrated.
Dude, you boy's numbers are the benefit of playing against crappy defenses. NDSU puts up lofty offensive numbers pretty much each time they play a Big Sky team compared to when they play MVFC.

What would Santiago's numbers be if instead of playing USD (they're getting better) and Mo State, he played against the likes of UNI and YSU (who also is usually an elite defense)?

Again, if he was as good as you F'Hawkers want to believe he is, he'd be higher on the radar of NFL scouts (nfldraftscouts.com has him at #56).

It's a hypothetical, so who knows (though I'm sure you'll tell us). But USD did have a better rush defense than Youngstown last season, so I guess I'm not sure how that changes your hypothetical results.

You mean to tell me a 5'8", 180lb FCS running back isn't high on some random website's rankings, especially over a year before he is even eligible to be drafted?? Who would have guessed? If Santiago has a shot at the next level, it isn't going to be as a prototypical running back. However none of that means he hasn't been an excellent college player.

Like the sounds of this, can only think of one recruit NDSU offered that SDSU then got a verbal from. That was LB Seth Benson, a Jackrabbit legacy. He then went with Iowa later on when they offered.
The Iowa Hawkeyes getting a whole nest full of PWO linebackers has to have affected SDSU, USD and UNI. The PWO list for Iowa includes Mike Timm, who was also a Jackrabbit commit at one time.

P.S. please feed the Fighting Hawk posters over in the appropriate thread, let’s try and keep recruiting recruiting

How is it hypothetical when his numbers prove my point? In fact, looking at his numbers, his production is getting worse each year: https://www.foxsports.com/college-fo...o-player-stats

If he doesn't improve this season drastically, his chances at the next level are slim and none.

What you think his numbers against teams he hasn't played aren't hypothetical? If you say so.

His yards were down because his carries were down, but his YPC was better than his sophomore year, I wouldn't exactly call that regressing. He played more on special teams (being one of the best return men at this level), UND has multiple talented backs and their offense regressed overall with poor offensive line play. You seem to be the only one talking about him at the next level, he'll earn whatever loook he gets.
