It has to be the absolute RIGHT decision and not a even semi RECKLESS decision. The timing has to be absolutely right. We will only get one shot because if it is done wrong we will not have the money or much of a opportunity to pull ourselves back to being a great program.

We can't have say what happened to our VB program happen, Lose a coach all heck breaks loose and now it is floundering around being sub mediocre. There are a ton of variables that have to line up and have everything go right and smoothly. Some on here say heck just make the jump and it will all fall into place. That can not be the attitude, a very well thought out plan with as much certainty has to be in place and then the Athletic department can work the plan. At this point in time we don't even know what the college landscape will look like in 5 years. We have to be ready but not be reckless as we have a very good thing going right now.

They also seem forget/ignore the immense sums of money required not once but every year.

So the same arguments are made over and over again until the thread slows. Then NDSU beats an Iowa and someone starts a new thread or resurrects an old one to rehash the same arguments when nothing has changed in terms of requirements and cost/benefits.
Agree with this. We have been hashing this over for years now and nothing has changed! To the move up crowd..Saying we need to move up ain't going to make it happen. If we had the money, a new stadium plan and an invite, I'm all in. Until then, not really much to discuss!

I dont think many that are "stay put". The fact is many that you think are stay put really are in the camp of knowing we cant do it now due to
$$$$$$$$$$$$, conference invite etc etc etc and it had to be whats best for NDSU as opposed to the faction that just want to move up---because we should.

As far as your two questions----- IMO it all depends on the invite doesnt it. You certainly dont want a conference based in the south. It has to be the right fit.
What does NDSU have to do to get an invite??? One must remember we have to be the right fit for the conference not only sports wise but more so what do we bring to the table academically? How do we enhance the standing of the conference. What do we offer that the other schools can use as a resource? Endowments and research are big things also. Just because we have a great football program only gets your foot in the door.

Then needing 5 home games only makes the independent route that much tougher doesnt it. Now you have to pay a premium to get a dognut team to travel to Fargo. Again--$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I pretty sure that anyone and everyone on BV knows the issues with moving up.

Wait until next year when all the top prospects start skipping bowl games. More money problems. The huge tv contracts will start to fade. Not sustainable for the product.

    the PROBLEM>

the PROBLEM 2.0 ? Mountain West & MAC are our only 2 viable options in FBS.... and they won't add NDSU because we'd dominate in a year or 2.
NDSU TO FBS. HAVEN'T WE WON ENOUGH?
