It's common sense until you ask UNI, ISUr, ISUb, and MSU to give up all those tournament shares. If tournament shares were equal, you could probably get ISUb and MSU on board. I think ISUr and UNI would rather go anywhere else than to be on the same level (in basketball) as all those schools. They want you to believe they are closer to the WSUs than the xDSUs. Being in the same conference shatters that reality.

If we had a 2x budget than them and paid our head coach 4x what their coach is getting paid, then yes, that would be about the right comparison.

What UNI reality does looking at the garage wall and counting playoff football appearances rather than national championships shatter?

The easiest thing for them would be to just add NDSU and SDSU. It doesn't kill off the Summit causing a mess and allows the MVC to definitely separates itself from the Horizon, Summit, and OVC because of the link to major state universities and football.

    NDSU
    SDSU
    UNI
    ISUr
    ISUb
    SIU
    Missouri State

    Valpo
    Evansville
    Bradley
    Drake
    Loyola

    MVFC

    NDSU
    SDSU
    USD
    UND
    ISUr
    ISUb
    SIU
    UNI
    WIU
    Missouri State
(YSU to the OVC all sports)

    New Summit
    UND
    USD
    Omaha
    Denver
    Minnesota State*
    UMKC**
    IUPUI
    IPFW
    ORU
    Western Illinois

    *Drops Football
** Required to add Baseball in order to come back to the Summit.

Does Western Illinois not care about all of the non-football sports? You'd think they would love to be in the MVC with everyone else. I've heard their arena would need a lot of love but they seem like they would be a great fit relationship-wise and geographically

Sounds like Belmont is going to say no to the MVC once again...

Missing from most reports, however, has been input from Belmont on whether it is even interested in bouncing from the Ohio Valley Valley Conference to the MVC. As it turns out, it's not something that's even on Belmont's radar screen.

"We're a proud and happy member of the Ohio Valley Conference," Belmont athletics director Scott Corley said. "We're happy where we are."

That's almost word-for-word what former Belmont AD Mike Strickland said in 2013 when the MVC was in need of a team after Creighton bolted and several media outlets had the Bruins ready to make a move back then.

can NDSU please get on the phone with the rest of the MVFC AD's/Presidents and ask for a NDSU only invite?

we have subsidized the MVFC, and raised the national profile, they owe us!
