It's all too fitting that his statement from 18 year old PGT to SR PGT on the Klieman show was "stay on the field"...I really felt for him when he was on the ground.

In my very non-medical opinion he would have been able to walk, not hop off the field if it were an ACL. That was my initial thought, I hope I'm right.

Crutches are not always necessary when tearing an ACL. When I tore mine along with the MCL and meniscus in 2002 (knee got bent 90 degrees the wrong way), I tried to continue to practice for a few minutes. When I realized how stupid I was being due to the feeling of my knee sliding off my lower leg, I had to take the long walk without crutches at the USOTC from Sports Center II to Sport Center I to get evaluated by the medical staff.

With that said, I hope PGT is alright and only has outside ligament damage at worse.
