reminder that if you don't like attendance trends you can invite friends to your tailgate and bring them to games. Lots of people stopped trying to make it to games.
The American would be unreal!

American would be HUGE and yes NDSU was mentioned last year or 2 in expansion rumors. Huge Schools.
AAC Commissioner :
We have big, important schools. We have a TV deal that gives us tremendous exposure. We’re in many of the top 10 markets in the country. I see a bright future for the league. But we are at a turning point. We have to get out of this situation we’re in. We just don’t want that to continue, because it’s very frustrating when they talk about non-power, and then you win a championship or you win a big bowl game or you do the things we’re doing, of course you’re powerful. It’s a term unfortunately that got coined and we have to deal with it.
“But I think the future is bright. I really do. But we are at a crossroads. And we’ve got to figure out in the next year or two if that playoff gets expanded, we’ve got to be at the table.

NDSU TO FBS. HAVEN'T WE WON ENOUGH?
Who had the quote in your post?
Run the damn ball!! PRO FBS
I think its just as legitimate a concept as joining the Mountain West. The AAC actually has an opening they need to fill for a football only affiliate. They want to be Power 6, and I would estimate have 6 of the top 10 programs outside the power conferences*. Mostly urban research universities, so peer schools for the most part, although NDSU would be one of the lower ones by USNWR type of ranking but thats a garbage in garbage out sort of metric anyway and is easily swayed by marketing, like Alabama's meteoric rise in the last decade. If I were the AD and President I would invite some AAC representatives up for a big game.
It also appear that the Boise State to AAC thing was a complete bust.
