I do think a switch will be "thrown" in the next couple weeks; they always do.
I know that my child-like antics here (and the boyishly good looks that you can't see ) sometimes belie the fact that I've been following the Bison for longer than I care to remember. And, yes dammit, I get very frustrated sometimes and have the same negative thoughts as many of you do when things don't go "perfect" to my ever-rising expectations. Sometimes that attitude even tends to snuff out much of my own fun!

So what I try to do now is harken back to 2011 to remember not necessarily that team compared to this one, but the fact that I would honestly and objectively be absolutely ecstatic if I were put in a Delorean and sent back to November 1, 2011................. with a 7-1 record (we were actually 8-0) and controlling our own destiny for home field in the playoffs.

Lo and behold.................a minor adjustment in perspective.................and my fun quickly and easily returns!

My glass is currently 87.5% full so maybe I shouldn't even be posting on this thread.

This season has not had a dull game yet. It's also had some all-time great moments.

How about Tre Dempsey all but ending 3 separate games with INTs (EWU, WIU, UNI)? That's kind of awesome.

Part of what killed of NDSU's last championship run was the "death grip on the steering wheel" mentality that NDSU developed. Gotta treat each season, each game, each play as its own deal and not dwell so much on the mythology we fans have developed about our past teams.

Another thing that seems to be forgotten in regards to the close games that NDSU is winning is the fact that pretty much every team in the MVFC is better than they were a few years ago. Each team is trying (and succeeding somewhat) to keep up with NDSU.
    Hail the BISON!!!

    Totally agree!

One reasons the teams are getting better also, is because they are keeping some players onto their "hometown" teams. Like SDSU for example, keeping Goedart, and other players like him. For decades players like him had the eye of the Minnesota's and Nebraska's, since they had so many scholarships to give to players. Now these top rated FB players from high school, can stay "home" if you will, and also play in a playoff atmosphere, versus going somewhere to play for some worthless bowl game.

That is a great point, and I agree. Look at USD. They are not a cake team anymore that's a guaranteed win. Now the trick to us continuing to be the top MVFC team is to adapt and improve.

Thanks for this, I had yet to post a ton this year because just reading through some of the threads just was depressing. Because I'd watch the games, and yeah they weren't perfect but damn it I was having fun watching them, it was fun to feel like you were on the knifes edge between defeat and victory. While I do want a blow out from time to time I will stick to my guns in thinking, no team is going to be more playoff ready because of the toughness in their schedule than the Bison.

You beat me to it. We raised the bar in the conference, and every other team is doing their best to meet it. That's a great thing for us and for them. It's a lot more fun to beat a good team in overtime (or even lose to a good team by 2 points) than to destroy a team that's way out of their element (unless it's in Frisco - that's pure joy).

I bought tickets for the championship game in August, and I am nowhere near making any other plans for the weekend of Jan 7. I haven't seen a lot of quit in our team, in spite of adversity and injuries.

    Go Bison!

I was thinking this morning it's not that bad. The Bison pillow pet is still in bed with me. He spent a couple weeks on the floor in the corner after Klieman dropped his first game to uni.

Yesterday was depressing with another thread and now the love fest. Almost makes me want to break of the Joan Baez version of kumbaya.
