Well, if he gets claimed, he is guaranteed a spot on that team. So worst case is he is on the Eagles practice squad.

Solid point. And with injuries to any secondary guys, he could be like Marcus in getting a shot.

NDSU should try to pick him up for next week's game.

Bad news is the practice squad salary is about $6900 per week or $117,300 over 17 week season vs. $450,000 (NFL minimum for rookies) for being on 53-man roster.

I know it's not easy work, but $117K over 17 weeks while having access to stay in shape and practice your trade and be close to another opportunity to move up is nothing to sneeze at either.

No kidding. Just think how many players wish they had that opportunity.

That's true. $117,300 for a 23 year old is what most working adults strive for their entire working lives... Problem is it's not big long term.

117K is great work if you can get it. I think you can be on the PC for what 3 years? Plus you can work the other 35 weeks to pay the bills. He could parlay those 3 years and 300K in to a good future.

When you play football, you gotta like the taste of blood, And 50 percent of the time, it's your blood.

It is characteristic of the unlearned that they are forever proposing something which is old, and because it has recently come to their own attention, supposing it to be new.

Where the big benefits kick in is when you make 3 years. Pension for age 55. $201,453 annually at age 65 or $76,920 annually at age 55.

Then you get a decent sized annuity when you make 4 years that you can collect at 35. (or 5 years out of league) it's between 500k and 800k, not including interest

Unfortunately practice squad doesn't count. Need 3 games on IR, PUP, or active roster to count as a year. John Crockett now has 2 years being on the IR. Next year is huge for him and his long term financial earnings
