Following back-to-back losing seasons and two months after its best player abandoned the team, Nebraska basketball has dumped the top senior in the state, a player who committed two years ago as a 15-year-old and stuck with the Huskers as they regressed toward the Big Ten basement.
The reason: Aguek Arop hadn’t developed the way Tim Miles envisioned.
Miles, according to Lee Barfknecht’s reporting, wanted Arop to attend a prep school after his senior season at Omaha South, where he led the Packers to a Class A championship in March. That’s sorta like telling your fiancee you’ll follow through on your engagement if plastic surgery goes well.
