I'm pretty sure the school names were in the state constitution before 1960. I found the following short history of the name change. A statewide amendment failed in 1958 and then passed by a 2-1 margin in 1960.

I figured so but didnt that have something to do with defunding NDSU or something similar?

Chairwoman Kathleen Neset previously said the way Bresciani handled the media rules controversy was similar to previous communication issues cited by the board in delaying his contract extension.

I'll buy this. Similar in that Dr. B does nothing wrong, as verified by an independent 3rd party, but the board complains anyway.
