People actually think the Forum won't be able to write articles. Dom and Jeff wont be able to do a show. They even think ESPN can't show.

I always heard the saying end with "barrel", not gallon. Barrel gives it real emphasis. In any event, JMB's reminder of the old adage is a good one. There are countless football fans who may not be Bison fans who go to the Forum for news and info and not the local TV station. The Forum can make a point about having less access by cutting back on the coverage level. Sports reporting, compared to general news reporting, has a much larger percentage devoted to the entertainment factor and that's a big discretionary call by the editor. If I was the editor, the number of inches devoted to the Bison would drop a little while the inches devoted to Moorhead, Concordia and high school sports would increase a little. I might even run a little "Editor's note" once a week stating that due to restrictions imposed by the NDSU Athletic Administration, Bison coverage has been necessarily reduced.

The paper could also have a little fun reporting "Coach X was contacted for comments but refused to talk to the Forum." Or: "Calls to the coach for more information on this story were not returned." Those kind of comments usually put an end to attempts to shut down the press.

The paper has to be judicious in its response and work to get around the restrictions because it wants to sell papers and coverage of the big show is what attracts readers.

I suspect a little of the above will happen, but if they get the chance to run a 14 page championship edition full of ads, they will.
