Join the Green and the Gold Collective to take Bison football to the next level. Starts at $10 a month
The Green and The Gold Collective is excited to announce our #DriveToFive membership campaign. The goal of this campaign is to get to 500 monthly members. Reaching this goal will help us provide financial support to NDSU student athletes, including every returning member of the football team that saw action on the field last year!

So how haven't they panned out as you say? When the vast majority of that class ended up being all around the same weight it's tough to showcase your talent. The last time I checked there were still 10 weight classes and they still only allow 10 per team to wrestle at a dual meet and qualify for the NCAA Tournament. Bengtson, has qualified once for the NCAAs, Ream has qualified twice now and won the Elite 90 Award last year. Friedman (same weight as Ream & Bengston) although not been on the mat all that much is over the Student Athletic Council for all NDSU Athletes, Gliva is starting to have success on the mat and I think will be at weight this year that he should do well at, Umlauf and Walton have also been stuck behind Ream, Gliva & Bengston but may get his shot at the starting lineup possibly this year.
Looking at this year's roster:
Fr - 10
Rfr - 12
So - 6
Jr - 10
S - 3
Seems like the Bison are perpetually a "young" team year after year.....
Some of you guys that know this roster: What is the outlook for this team? Is the lineup good top to bottom or will the Bison have a team that might have a couple of good individuals and a poor dual team?
Ii think they'll be better than last year in duals. 133 might be the weakest spot, and even there, I think Sykora will do well if he's the guy 2nd semester. Umlauf at 141 is an unknown but the coaches seemed high on him. 174, 184, and 197 are all a bit unknown but I think they'll be pretty solid at each spot.
Potnetially could start rFr at 133, 165, 174, 197, and HWT (although I want Tynan in there)
I don't see any true Freshman starting this season. I think the team will be better overall. The live feed was fun to watch.

Brandon Metz was took first and Jesse Shearer took second at the MN Christmas tournament. It's too bad that Gable Stevenson wasn't in the field. I wanted to see that match up for Metz.
Just to add a little bit to the Jesse Shearer and Sam Grove discussion. Jesse moved up from '82 to '95 to wrestle Sam when MHD and WF opened the dual season. I'm pretty sure the final was 5-2, and Jesse totally dominated Sam from the start. Jesse is a strong kid, loves to be in the gym and on the practice mat. He's going to be a great addition to NDSU and their team.
