Not as common but from time to time they do happen. We have had a couple recently.

South Dakota gets a couple verbals from Texas

On Wednesday, Walter Prevost, a 6-foot-8 post from Houston committed to USD, and the next day, Stanley Umude, a 6-foot-6 guard/forward from San Antonio, did the same.

Nice article on a comeback from injury by a Maple Grove MN player.
    6' 4" Tywhon Pickford - 21.2 ppg so far for a 5-1 team. (#2 rank in 4A)
SDSU is mentioned as one of the teams to have offered, but recently
Northern Iowa has stepped in with an offer.
SDSU also long ago offered Pickford's teammate, Brad Davison, but
Davison went with a QB offer in football instead (Wisconsin).

    .
He actually went with basketball at Wisconsin, although it sounds like he was equally qualified to go the football route as well: http://www.startribune.com/maple-gro...sin/386379791/

Former USD head coach Amy Williams with a big transfer loss after her 1st season for the Cornhuskers.

Nebraska's top women's basketball player — the most decorated recruit to suit up for the Huskers — is leaving the program.

Head coach Amy Williams announced Monday that sophomore forward Jessica Shepard plans to transfer.
The 2015-16 Big Ten freshman of the year has not decided where she will transfer to.
She was the No. 3 recruit in the country in her class.

This season Shepard averaged 18.6 points and 9.8 rebounds.
