And I now have another question. How many mediocre FBS teams are getting verbals this time of year? Seriously, how can a recruit be excited to commit to a school that was 7-5 last year and played in some unknown bowl game that everyone forgot 5 minutes later.

If he ends up on the football roster, the scholarship counts against the 63 allowable football scholarships.

Iowa State is not even mediocre, but they are P5, and just got their 15th commit. New head coach is killing it in recruiting compared to the last guy, who would've had 1 maybe 2 at this point. I would say we are right on par with the good G5 schools...

    100% Bison family for sure.
Once again, that DNA thing comes into play....... Bison parents produce Bison children.

Interesting. Do academic scholarships work the same way?

yes, otherwise you could just give everyone an "academic" scholarship.

In all fairness to FBS, they give all full rides. NDSU probably gives out mostly partials. That is big for many kids I suspect. Playing at a mediocre G5 school might not matter to a lot of kids when you are getting a full ride right away.

FCS football scholarships can only be divided amongst 85 individuals. So, 63 scholarships split up on 85 players. FBS is all full scholarships as you indicated.
