    It's official.

From now on, if you talk crap about the Bison, you are talking crap about The United States of America. #ItsTheLaw

Earlier in the day the Grand Forks Herald said the official mammal was buffalo and then changed it to bison. Evidently, The Herald didn't understand that naming buffalo as the symbol of the U.S. would be strange since they are indigenous to Africa and Asia. Of course they are joined by the Buffalo Bills, Arkansas Baptist (Little Rock, Arkansas), Colorado (Boulder, Colorado), Colorado-Denver (Denver, Colorado), Milligan (Johnson City, Tennessee), and West Texas A&M (Canyon, Texas). Let alone towns and cities with the name.

edit---my mistake, The Herald never did change buffalo to Bison.

The only reason some people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

I hope it's the American bison.

Bridgekeeper: What... is the land-speed velocity of an unladen bison?
King Arthur: What do you mean? An American or European bison?
    Bridgekeeper: Huh? I... I don't know that.
    [he is thrown over]
    Bridgekeeper: Auuuuuuuugh.
It's OK to not be OK.

I find it sadly humorous that they think by changing the name it will end confusion and the calls they were receiving.

It would be Darrel bleating that the Bison is sacred and should be sanctioned under NCAA rules also.

He should organize a rally up in Grand Forks. Heck, it would probably attract more people that the anti-new-nickname ones (although I'd still expect them all to be wearing Sioux-branded clothing.)

And 95% of those would be hockey jerseys.
I don't care how the vote ended up. They still suck and always will.
