Prince was in talks for an Aug. 13 concert at U.S. Bank Stadium

Minnesota music legend Prince was in talks to perform at U.S. Bank Stadium, which opens Aug. 3, before he died unexpectedly last month.

Vikings vice president Lester Bagley said on KFAN Tuesday that Prince’s management was discussing the possibility of a show on Aug. 13, which would have made him the first to play the new $1.1 billion, 66,200-seat stadium.
Here is a speaker sound check at the stadium playing Purple Rain:

Edit: Damn it, that video is gone and I can't find it again.

Heard Lester talking about it on power trip, sounded like it was a few minor details from being a done deal! Probably would have sucked of they'd had a deal and started selling tickets and all of this had gone down. Wonder if KFAN guys knew about it a bit because they were talking about that very thing last week about prince kicking off the us bank stadium era. Sounds like they're going to try to do some memorial thing once his people get things straightened out.

We all live in stories... It seems to me that a definition of any living vibrant society is that you constantly question those stories... The argument itself is freedom. It's not that you come to a conclusion about it. Through that argument you change your mind sometimes... That's how societies grow. When you can't retell for yourself the stories of your life then you live in a prison... Somebody else controls the story. - S. Rushdie

Remember the first time I ever saw that. Had no idea he could shred like that. Still blows me away.

Not to brag or anything ... but I saw His Royal Badness in the Civic Center in 1983 with Vanity 6 and the Time. The Time damn near stole the show, but the little guy earned the headline. No wonder his body hurt by the end …

Someone snagged a ticket for me last minute, and one of the people going was Brown Mark’s (bassist) hair stylist, so we got a tip on an after party at a hotel way out in the burbs with a full spread

They jammed all night – Prince on drums, people swapping in and out on bass and guitar, and Stevie Nicks (of all people) on vocals. I think I was there until 4 am and then had to do jury duty the next day down in St. Paul. They dismissed me before they sequestered …

Crazy stuff. The 80s were unique for sure. RIP Mr Nelson. You are a true Minnesota icon, no doubt. Right up there with Bud Grant, Hubert Humphrey, and … Joey Browner
