The PC angle is coming in from headlines using terms like "derogatory" which is just ignorant... ignorant of history, ignorant of logic. That kind of ignorance is at the root of a lot of these "soft" problems. The verse is just embarrassing and not a deliberate affront to anybody. I tried to show that, for the times, it was actually a model of benignity.

That said, pfft, the Dakotas were a hard place, but there weren't people constantly trying to kill you. Heck, of the places my ancestors homesteaded, the Dakotas were about the tamest.

BTW, it's not only the PC folks who whitewash history or people wouldn't be so unfamiliar with the realities of even recent society. Sadly, I can't even tell what you got so offended by. Hopefully it wasn't anything I posted.

I was not offended by anything you posted Tony. Actually, not much offends me, rather just tired of people trying to make much out of nothing when it comes to race, gender, etc. Lots of ignorance out there and those that want some unwarranted power or free stuff to make themselves feel better. Instead they need to put their energies into actually improving something that is real or making their own lives better. Simply put go out there and earn it.

Fun fact:

When the GSMB went to Ireland last year, we went on a tour of the Guinness factory. Before it started we had an impromptu "concert" wherein we played In Heaven, and some of us replaced "beer" with "Guinness".
