    Default 2016 MVFC Season

Stieg hires a couple assistants with ties to MSU-Mankato
Jason Eck (at Montana State as OL coach last season)
Joining the Jackrabbit coaching staff will mark a return to the Midwest for Eck, who coached a record-setting offense at Minnesota State, Mankato during back-to-back Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championships in 2013 and 2014. He served as the offensive line coach in 2013 and added offensive coordinator duties in 2014 as the Mavericks advanced to the NCAA Division II championship game.

    Jason Dickert - safeties coach
Dickert spent the past two seasons as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Minnesota State, Mankato, where he helped lead the Mavericks to a 24-3 overall record and back-to-back Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference titles. The Mavericks ranked in the top five among NCAA Division II programs for both scoring defense and third-down defense in both 2014 and 2015 en route to a pair of playoff berths. The 2014 squad advanced all the way to the national title game.
Dickert also spent 3 seasons as a grad assistant (?) at NDSU (2008-2010)

South Dakota's big loss for the 2016 season was DE Andrew Van Ginkel
transfering out to Iowa Western CC in search of bigger, greener pastures.
Van Ginkel has picked up early offers from Minnesota and West Virginia.

South Dakota and it's new offense under Bob Nielson at the Coyotes' spring game

    http://m.yankton.net/sports/article_....html?mode=jqm

In all, USD ran 72 plays in the nearly hour-and-a-half game and got a chance to display the new no-huddle, up-tempo offense brought in by new head coach Bob Nielson.

That was probably the most noticeable change Saturday: The Coyotes are going to be doing things differently. They’re going to push the pace. They’re going to try to put pressure on the defense.

It’s not that the Coyotes are going to run any less (they ran 42 times Saturday and passed 30), it’s just that things are going to happen at a quicker pace.

Only to piss off State fans and looks like it is working. Personally, I think it shows weakness when using that to gloat.

When a team has a coaching change, the schemes will change. Hurry up will work well in domes, I am worried about the hurry up when it is windy and cold.
