High-backed JD95:

Me (at 10 yrs old)- "when the wind is from behind me, I can't see anything much less breath" (swirling chaff)
Grandpa- "put on your goggles, stand on the seat and steer with your foot...and don't whine"

Grew up using IH 401 & 501's. The 401 was open air with no cab, the 501 had a cab but no way to cool it. I'm not sure which was worse to be honest with you. We used them on our farm near Balta, ND during the 70's (maybe even earlier?), 80's 90's & up until my started paying others to harvest for him in the early 2000's

Yeah, that was my first experience on a combine when I was a kid in the mid 70's. Old Massey combine, no cab, huge cloud of dust, 90+ degrees, tailwind, grasshoppers every where. Not exactly a healthy situation.

Combining barley was a special form of torture. The toughest Al Quaeda fighter would crack in an afternoon. Just an idea for Homeland Security.

Rusty oats was always one of my favorites.
