Aanen Moody named 1st team ND Class A All-State basketball by AP

Moody, a 6-3, 165-pound junior guard, more than doubled his scoring pace of 15.6 as a sophomore. He led all Class A shooters with an average of 33 points per game as a junior. He shot 49 percent from the floor. He displayed 37 percent accuracy while connecting on 68 3-pointers and shot 90 percent while converting 212 free throws.

For good measure, Moody had a region-best 84 steals and averaged 3.4 assists per game. He sparked Dickinson to a 16-10 season and a berth in the state tournament. Last week was named North Dakota’s Gatorade boys basketball player of the year.

Also on the ND 1st Team All-State, DeSean Eikens

Eikens, an all-state player as a freshman, averaged 21.9 points and 11.9 rebounds as a sophomore. The 6-6, 180-pound sophomore ranked second in the West Region in scoring and first in rebounding. He shot 41 percent from the floor and 49 percent at the free-throw line, passing the 1,000-point mark as the Coyotes went 6-18.

However, next season, Eikens will be playing in Utah. He’s scheduled to transfer to Wasatch Academy, a private boarding school in Mt. Pleasant.

7 feet tall and only averages 7 rebounds?......wow.
There are guys that are 6'0 and average 7 boards in North Dakota.

The 10 points, i can understand if he's not very polished in the paint and is always double teamed....but c'mon man, 7 boards screams something is not right.

People said the same thing about Brian Qvale in HS. He turned out ok at Montana.

He is project at this point. Heck the only way NDSU ever gets a 7 footer is going to be if they are a project.

It will be very interesting to see how he comes along this summer. If he has the drive and work ethic and with Lucas coaching and mentoring him, he should take a major jump in skill level this summer.

Exactly. If he was 7' averaging 20 pts 15 rebs as a junior he'd have high major teams calling daily. I'm hoping he has a great summer developing and plays at the 20 and 10 level next year and stays committed to NDSU. You also have to realize he's still learning to use that gigantic frame of his, it's not like he's been 7' since he was 10, it takes time to develop the muscles and the coordination to go along with the size. Again if he had it all down and was filled out at 7' 250 lbs there's no way in hell we'd get him here. I have a lot of faith in our staff to develop skills and all the faith in the world in Jason Miller getting this kid where he needs to be for him to be a force in the Summit League.

will be the biggest recruit in the history of the program, yet people complain. Comical to me. Same fans wonder why everyone doesn't have a 6'10 kid that is perfect. Yet we do get one to verbal to us, and people question his stat line. Honestly, it is funny to me. He will be a dominant force for NDSU. Cannot wait for him to actually sign. They have worked very hard to build that relationship. He has about 24-36 months to mature and fill out. He will be needed.
Everyone just relax, all right? Believe me, if there's one thing Ron Burgundy knows, it's women.
