The random once a decade D1? Then yes, you are correct. They produce "talent"

Let's be specific...and even D1 is questionable now days since your average Houston Baptist "Huskies" are D1. Or Jacksonville "Dolphins"
D1 in name is not D1 in talent.

Again, you can't produce a list of rural kids form ND/MN that were impact players in the last decade. So your entire point of calling me a fucking moron is baseless. I said i'll give you Marshall Bjorklund...you got one guy.
Are the consistent top 25 teams hunting rural MN/ND for new studs?

    I rest my case.

We've given plenty of ND/MN kids a chance (not all rural, even)
Most of them do not pan out as above average players in D1 the last 10 years. The ones that have are typically bigger city kids. (Minneapolis or suburbs)
Alright, put your fucking moron money where your fucking moron mouth is: Quit your day job and apply for a position on the Bison MBB staff and use your “No more rural ND/MN recruiting” position as your key interview platform.

Either do that or seriously shut the fuck up already.

Jarius Cook, Donald Carter III, Odell Wilson are all from the Twin Cities off the current roster - as was Vinnie Shahid.
IMO Coach Richman has done a good job getting back into the Metro TC for recruiting. So far this year there are only the 2 recruits, but even if they are outstate - and possibly farm kids - they are still both Top-10 Minnesota high school talents. Two Top-10 Minnesota recruits is something I would be very happy to see every year.

I was told by a high school coach 7-8 years ago that Saul had a terrible reputation in the twin cities but he wasn’t sure what caused this. Richman has done an awesome job turning that around though.

Saul and his staff were pretty Wisconsin centric, yes, but I cant imagine Saul having a bad repuation. He's about as "likable" as it gets. He didn't have the ego that most of these coaches do today . . . I don't think DR does either.

As Bisonville Basketball “Recruiting: Class of 2017 and Beyond”
looks to recover from one of its worsts posts ever,
I’ll offer a list of *small town players* who **contributed**
to Bison Basketball over the last decade.

*going with towns under 30,000 for arbitrary purposes
    **regular rotation guys

    Mike Felt - Montevideo MN
    Michael Tveidt - Pierre SD
    Taylor Braun - Newberg OR
    Marshall Bjorklund - Arlington MN
    Jordan Aaberg - Rothsay MN
    Spencer Eliason - Chadron NE
    Chris Quayle - Riverton WY
    Jared Samuelson - Gretna NE
Jaxon Knotek - River Falls WI
Grant Nelson - Devils Lake ND
    Boden Skunberg - Jamestown ND

Now for a bonus list - current regional rural high school players I wish would be Bison......

Matthew Mors - Yankton SD (2021, signed with Wisconsin)
Joe Hurlburt - Enderlin ND (2022)
Treyton Thompson - Alexandria MN (2021, signed with Minnesota)
Eli King - Caledonia MN (2022)
Ahjany Lee - Byron MN (2022)
Will Tschetter - Stewartville MN (2021, signed with Michigan)

Of course, none of these 6 players will be Bison, but there is an amazing amount of talent nowadays! Hopefully they all have outstanding results at the P6 school of their choice.

But the Summit League will benefit from 3 incoming 2021 recruits who did sign and are from this region:

Andrew Morgan - Waseca MN (NDSU)
Joshua Streit - Eden Valley/Watkins MN (NDSU)
Broden Lien - Ulen Hitterdahl MN (SDSU)

Mike Daum won conference player of the year three times and he’s from a town of 2500 people.

These facts really help drive home the idiocy of Thunder Dan’s position... but, again, the real problem with it is that it actually doesn’t matter what the past tells us about where D1 basketball talent comes from, as long as the chance remains that it can come from literally anywhere in the world, an indisputable fact, then we should trust our coaches to locate the talent and recruit them as best they can.

Bottom line: You can criticize coaches for not recruiting well, or for failing to get certain recruits, but saying that it has anything to do with the regional footprint and the size of the community a recruit comes from is quite possibly the dumbest thing I have ever read on this site, and that includes the politics forum.

    1. Your list contains 2 rural ND/MN players, so not sure if you actually read my original comment, as this makes no sense to it.. And "contributing" is a pretty stupid thing to try and prove a point lol. Playing minutes and actually having an impact and being good are 2 different things. As I stated before, I'll give everyone Marshall Bjorklund...that's literally the only one from the last decade. (not to mention that Taylor Braun is from a suburb of a major metro area, so not sure why he's on the list.)
