So far South Dakota has only one verbal from the state of
    Minnesota, Tre Morris - OL - 6' 2" 270 lbs - Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial.
Morris was also a 2016 NDSU recruiting interest.
With all the years Bob Nielson spent in Minnesota, was curious as to
how he would do recruiting in MN. Nielson was at Minnesota-Duluth
14 years, winning 2 Div 2 national championships. For the 2017 class he will
have the full year to recruit the state. South Dakota may still be hoping to
flip Minnesota preferred walk-on commit Nick Kramer,
    6' 4" 220 DE/LB, Wayzata HS (2016 NDSU interest).

South Dakota is up to approximately 25 verbals (4 PWO's). They recently
picked up a preferred walk-on verbal from Dodi Makwinja of Sioux Falls
    (5' 11" 215 - LB - O'Gorman HS). Makwinja was also a 2016 NDSU
    recruiting interest.

More on Omaha LB Jacob Matthew changing verbal from SDSU to USD:

“It came down to education,’’ he said. “South Dakota State does not have a school of business. They give you a degree in business. South Dakota has a very highly credited school of business. At the end of the day, you go to college for your education.’’

But this past fall, he was hampered by three shoulder dislocations. He played in seven games but not on both sides of the ball as the Mustangs won the Class A title.

He underwent surgery on the left shoulder Dec. 10 and started rehabilitation two weeks ago. The healing process takes four to five months, so he missed wrestling season.

    back in the day???.....
Found 5 names so far, feel free to add or subtract.

    Jake Hartford - WR - 6' 3" 215 - Centennial Pines MN

    Brison White - DB/LB - 5' 10" 215 - East Ridge HS

    Isaiah Weston - WR - 6' 4" 190 - St Michael/Albertville HS

    Elerson Smith - TE/DE - 6' 4" 190 - Minneapolis South

    Connor Novak-Goer - DL - 6' 2" 256 - Eden Prairie

Northern Iowa adds another verbal from Minnesota -
    Nick Fossey - WR - 6' 2" 180 - Lakeville North HS

There is also an interesting read from a UNI QB commit from Nebraska.
    Christian Ellsworth - 6' 4" 215 - preferred walk-on offer from Nebraska.

Ellsworth produced big numbers throughout his high school career for the Vikings. He finished as the Class B all-time record holder in total offense with 6,839 yards.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder went 200-for-324 for 2,315 yards and 24 touchdowns as a senior while also serving as Northwest’s leading rusher. He set Class B records for most completions in a season and a game (36).

Ellsworth likes Farley’s philosophy on offense and thinks that makes this choice a great fit for him.

“I watched some film from last season, and a lot of their schemes are the same (as at Northwest),” he said. “The thing that coach Farley is big on is forming his offense around his quarterback. He said that he knows that I can run and saw that on film, but he wants me to stay in the pocket and throw all over the field.

Their quarterback this year was more of a run-first guy, and he formed the offense around him. But he would like to be more of a passing team, and they recruited four of the top receivers in the Midwest. As a quarterback, that’s something you really like to see.”

South Dakota succeeds in flipping Kramer from his preferred walk-on
verbal to Minnesota to a scholarship verbal (I'm assuming the scholly part).

Good drama on this recruiting battle between the Rabbits and the FNHawks.
Who gets the last verbal here???
TE Alex Cloyd did sign with Grand Forks U, not the Jackrabbits.
SDSU lost 2 of their "OmahaJacks" close to signing day
(if Cloyd ever did verbal) (also Jacob Matthew). They did sign 5
"OmahaJacks" plus another recruit from Beatrice, NB.

    - Alec Cromer - 6' 5" 225 - QB - Beatrice, Neb. (Beatrice H.S.)
    - Jack Domandle - 6' 4" 295 - OL - Omaha, Neb. (Millard West H.S.)
    - Cade Johnson - 5' 10" 170 - WR - Papillion, Neb. (Bellevue West H.S.)
    - Joshua Manchigiah - 6' 0" 190 - CB - Papillion, Neb. (Papillion La Vista South H.S.)
    - Monte McGary - 6' 2" 180 - CB - Omaha, Neb. (Omaha South H.S.)
    - Elijah Wilson - 6' 4" 260 - DL - Omaha, Neb. (Omaha Central H.S.);

Good article by Matt Zimmer on SDSU's recruiting class.
He also looks at the classes from 2010+
seeing who was highly rated, who contributed, who stayed, who left etc.

    http://www.argusleader.com/story/spo...sses/80454030/

This year’s class has its share of recruits that, at the very least, have measurables that seem to bode well. Blair Mulholland was the best running back in Wisconsin this year, though the Jacks plan to convert him to a linebacker/safety hybrid.

Quarterback Alec Cromer has size and athleticism. Running back Tolu Ogunrinde, defensive back Pete Menage and wide receiver Paddy Devlin are all intriguing, and head coach John Stiegelmeier expressed a stone-faced confidence in all four offensive linemen in the class. At least one FCS analyst suggested defensive back Josh Manchigiah is the jewel of the class, while I’ve got my eye on Omaha defensive end Elijah Wilson.

South Dakota picks up a grad transfer from Minnesota, Chris Streveler,Friday, he decided he will be transferring to the University of South Dakota, where he hopes to play quarterback in the Coyotes’ no-huddle, spread offense.

    6' 2" 223 - QB/ATH - 2 years of eligibility remaining

Friday, he decided he will be transferring to the University of South Dakota, where he hopes to play quarterback in the Coyotes’ no-huddle, spread offense.

USD is set to return three quarterbacks next season. Rising senior Ryan Saeger presents the toughest challenge. A starter for all 11 games last season, Saeger completed 165 passes for 1,984 yards, 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions

Article from Lincoln on SDSU assistant Dan Jackson and Nebraska recruiting

    Steven M. Sipple:
'Relentless' SDSU recruiter rakes in Nebraska talent'......

......Check the rosters for the 57th annual Shrine Bowl on Saturday in Kearney. Seven of the football players are headed to South Dakota State in Brookings, South Dakota, where Jackson coaches cornerbacks and focuses his recruiting on the states of Nebraska and South Dakota.......

......Nebraska has missed on players — safety Christian Dudzik of Omaha and defensive end Kyle Emanuel of Schuyler come immediately to mind — who clearly could've contributed. Both starred for North Dakota State, which in January became the first team to win four straight FCS national titles. Emanuel was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the fifth round this spring.
    (Last year's NDSU info?)
(edit, oh never mind, it is last year's article )

    http://journalstar.com/sports/husker...1be87efb9.html

It will be interesting to see how the head-to-head recruiting for
NDSU & SDSU goes in Nebraska this year. Off the top of my head
I don't remember any battles lost to the Jacks last year in Nebraska
    (could be wrong)

This year NDSU has a good start against Jackson with their first verbal in South Dakota
In Nebraska there are head-to-head offers against SDSU (among others) with:

    - LB/S Jack Begley - Millard North (Nick DeLuca's high school)
    - LB Noah Urbanek - Kearney

And there may be more as both schools have been active with their offers.

The fact they only got 1 player out of Minnesota is all I care about. Why would they focus heavily on areas where they have a tough time winning head to head battles when Nebraska is closer and a better fit. I think it's smart and strategic.
