We're not getting a Power 5 invite, nor should we. Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Stanford will never play in Fargo. We'd be playing host to New Mexico State, or Cincinnati. Maybe get a 2 for 1 with Arkansas. Any conference we could concievably join will result in a strength of schedule about equal to our current seasons. Right now, Central Florida is the premier G5 school. They have a Sagarin SoS around 90. Ours is 145. By the time we've won if Frisco, our average should be back up, around 100 or 110. It's a lateral move, that will cost hundreds of millions of dollars. And it will hurt our program's culture. The dome barely fills up as it is, and a third of the fans are gone in the third quarter. How will it look to have a brand new 35k+ stadium with 14k fans as we play teams no better than the ones we do now?

Central Florida is 12-0 in G5, and they barely fill their 40k stadium. And they're in one of the most heavily populated regions in the country.

Barley filling a 40K stadium isn’t a bad thing. That means that there are over 35k people at the game. Some P5 schools draw about the same.

I agree. Think of all the beer that barley would make.....
North Dakota State, a football team the big boys of college football should avoid like the plague, helped christen a $90 million renovation to Snyder Family Stadium — including a statue of famed Kansas State coach Bill Snyder himself — by taking a sledgehammer to the place.

B1g visit mac schools yearly. We get 2 for 1 deals... ndsu would be a sexy opponent because theyd help with strength of schedule. That would be the biggest event in program history. Hell we jizz ourselves thinking about hosting kansas state in bball 10 years ago.

The dome is empty now because the game is decided at kickoff.

    Culture would be fine.

No no no, the culture will DIE!!! we dont have a history of prolonged success at a number of different competitive levels. We always have such trouble recruiting quality players and human beings. We're not even a top 10 FCS team in fan dedication and engagement, and the BEST CASE scenario is that we are the next Akron... maybe Kent state if we're lucky. No one will come to watch literally any games. Dont you understand that Southern Illinois, Western Illinois, Missouri State, youngstown State, and ISUb are VASTLY sexier opponents to recruits, fans, and students than hosting FBS programs? Dont you understand that FCS playoff games are vastly more prestigious than those meaningless NY6 games?
We will never be above 500 again, and fans will stop going to games cold turkey if we jump.

you know what? if you want this, or even think it is POSSIBLE that this could work then go F*CK YOURSELF!
    1. The FCS was the Best option for NDSU for a very long time.
    2. As a general rule- the FCS sucks at football and has proven that is not committed to football at all.
    3. It's time to go FBS

Playing in a tournament and vying for a national championship trumps playing in a mid December NO NAME Bowl in Schenectady, NY.

1 B1G school played at a MAC school this year (Maryland @ Bowling Green). Last year none did. It's more like a 20 for 1 deal than 2 for 1 when it comes to who gets the home games in B1G/MAC scheduling.
