That said, I am not convinced this is the best move for his career. If he just wanted to get out of Fargo or is unhappy with the coaches - something he probably would not want to say publicly - then it is understandable. If he needs courses NDSU does not offer, this is understandable. If it is to improve his NFL or high-draft chances, this move isn't going to do much. Not much upside, since he is already on scouts 'go to' lists, and plenty of downside.

Vernon Adams transferred from Eastern Washington - where he starred as a QB - to Oregon, where he played mediocre. He did not get in the NFL. After five years as a back-up in he CFL, he finally got to be a starter (on the 10-8 Montreal team). Did going to Oregon help him? Probably not. The CFL probably would have given him a shot based on his EW performance. His five years or so as a backup? That is more time than he spent in college, so he is starter today not b/c of his one-year at Oregon, but b/c of his five years as a backup.

How about Paige Stratioti - Bison 800m runner. Followed Ryun Godfrey to Kansas State for her senior year. Ran 2:06 800m, a terrific time, while at NDSU - went to NCAAs twice (I believe). If she would have stayed at NDSU, she probably would have improved on that. How did she do at Kansas State - got worse, not better - times were slower and no NCAA.

Jabril has the option of returning to NDSU and he probably should, IMO. Return with a good attitude. Decide to play 110% against Oregon and stuff them. Play out a final year of helping NDSU be successful, and he will get a high draft. Once in, then the NFL teams don't really care where an athlete went to school; they want an athlete who can get it done on the field in an NFL setting.

    sorry about the long post.
How do you figure VA played mediocre at Oregon? His season passer rating was 179.1, throwing for 2643yds, 26 TDs, 6 INTs, and a 64.9% completion percentage. I'd say that's better than mediocre.
    Uff da.

That is what higher draft stock tends to bring you.

It would be nice, but from what I understand, NDSU doesn't approach former players that make it to the NFL until their second contract to ask for money. Therefore, the IPF is probably built by the time he is making good money at that level.

That is a good point. A 1st round pick versus a lower round pick.
(Does Jabril have a shot at going the first round? I don't know enough to have an opinion.
He is a great player, no doubt. Is 233 lbs big enough to be a first round draft pick for a linebacker?)

Couldn't help you there. Good luck tracking down Duane though.
