Was wondering if the NCAA is now shaking in their boots now that the pres. resigns after the football team's successful protest?

I was very surprised in reading this.

    The situation is frightening.

These dipsh#ts don't have a clue what oppression is.

I would have told the football players to enjoy the real world.

Scrooge-"And the Union workhouses." . "Are they still in operation?". "Both very busy, sir..."

Scrooge- "If they would rather die," "they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population."

Weren't they in solidarity of a grad student's hunger strike?

Apparently this has been building for weeks or even months. Regular students have been pushing for it. Faculty have been pushing for it. The football team just pushed it over the edge. Or more precisely, the $1M buyout that Mizzou would have had to pay to BYU if the football team refused to play pushed it over the edge. BTW, the football coach also signed his name to the letter, so it wasn't just the players.

The coach had no choice but to support them. Not all of the players are behind this too.

That Mizzou football locker room has been an interesting place the last few years. Just about the only place they haven't demonstrated a social conscience is on the issue of violence against women. But it doesn't seem like anyone in football can get that one right.

We all live in stories... It seems to me that a definition of any living vibrant society is that you constantly question those stories... The argument itself is freedom. It's not that you come to a conclusion about it. Through that argument you change your mind sometimes... That's how societies grow. When you can't retell for yourself the stories of your life then you live in a prison... Somebody else controls the story. - S. Rushdie
