First, thank you for KVLY and our ability to watch almost all Bison games on local TV. Next, Yeah some of it is a bit lame as a small market cast and I noticed less Beth Houle this week. She talks over everybody so bad that it becomes uncomfortable to watch. I like her enthusiasm but she really does need to show SOME courtesy to others in the set. Also, can somebody give the game crew a new term other than ( A-GAP ), seriously, I know the term was used over 50 times prior to and during the game. Mix things up once in a while and use the terms INSIDE, off guard, off tackle, the edge!!!!!! We are watching the game by the way.

I am puzzled on how a play can get missed. The old lady stands on the field until they are back from commercial. She signals one of the stripes and they relay it to the white hat to start the clock. How can things not be ready at that point? Beth does overtalk people but I would rather listen to her than Timmerman.

Kyle Emanuel could have a career in TV sports if he wants it. Looks and sounds good in front of the camera.

Because you still have technology and people involved. The lady is called the red hat and they are in communication with the producer. He's often busy yelling at other people and sometimes misses marks. He may told the red hat they planned to come back but then someone else pushed another button that triggered the next commercial. Or the red hat misunderstood the mark and sent the wrong info to the crew.

There are 20 things going on at once with the radio the red hat is using. It's a really fascinating process of you ever get a chance to tag along. I'm surprised there aren't more issues. It makes you appreciate even more how good the networks are.

From what I've seen KVLY does a pretty good job compared to a lot of other local and regional broadcasts. Like anything is not easy to be perfect at what you do.

That's why every production truck(s) need a good tech director. I don't know who does the KVLY production, but there's a lot of little things that have existed consistently for the last five to ten years that should have been fixed by now by someone that shows they are improving at their job. This includes things like the way too zoomed in before a play begins to the cameraman moving off their shot while still live. Some newer graphic stuff over the past few years also should be fixed, especially when a play is in progress. I only know this stuff because I did it for a local Triple-A baseball team here in Colorado Springs. It's fun, but mentally exhausting.

With that said, KVLY does an overall excellent job compared to probably ever other non FBS team, which usually are done by professional productions like Token Creek and Wazee and not local television personal. Most broadcasts that involve FCS and lower schools have productions that look like high school highlight reels.
    Hail the BISON!!!

My kids, who are in elementary school were asking me if the other games I was watching on the ESPN app were "old" because the production value was way less than the Bison game.

I was switching between the ISU game and the Yale/Holy Cross game while waiting for the Bison game to come on. It wasn't even close.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah, they're pretty tough to watch. I'd hate to see what kind of camera(s) they use, but a lot of times the picture doesn't look much better than one you would get out of a $400 Sony hand held camera. Yes, you can shoot HD with them, but depth and focus of the picture is terrible and flat.

You definitely can speak to it better than me. What they are doing is not easy. I'm sure every year they have new people in different roles. I watched some of the game and caught where Bryan introduced the player introduction by also saying offense so I'm guessing someone put that in his ear as well as the guy who pushed the button to show that graphic. I noticed they ended it before it finished. For a local FCS broadcast it's pretty good. I've found no matter the topic people on forums LOVE to complain about everyone else not doing their job at the same level as the best in their profession. This is not unique to BV. I think it's some innate subconscious need to be critical of others to help yourself feel better. Most people don't even realize they do it.
