    Default FCS Week 1

Kind of an odd slate of games this week, some good FCS-FBS games with a few solid FCS games...

    Winnable FBS Games
#16 SDSU at Kansas 11:00 a.m. Fox Sports Net Affiliates- The Jacks begin life post Zach Zenner against a struggling Big 12 foe. Can the Rabbits finally breakthrough and notch an FBS win?
#2 Illinois State at Iowa 11:00 a.m. BTN- Tre Roberson and Co go up against a middle of the pack Big 10 team, can the Redbirds show the FCS they deserve to be #1 or will at all go up in smoke?
#4 Villanova at UConn 6:30 p.m. SNY/ESPN3- John Robertson another one of the top QB's in FCS gets his last chance to take down an FCS foe, UConn won just two games last year and barely limped by Stony Brook.
#7 UNH at San Jose State 9:00 p.m.- UNH used to knock of FBS foes regularly but has been stuck in a slump, an SJSU team coming off a 3-9 season could be the perfect slumpbuster
#10 UNI at Iowa State 7:00 p.m.- Iowa State has lost two straight games to FCS opponents, UNI is breaking in a new offense making this game an interesting one to follow.

    Key FCS Games
#25 Cal Poly at #12 Montana 8:00 p.m. Altitude- After a big win the Griz could be setup for a letdown of sorts, Cal Poly last year featured an offense that could tear up its opposition at times. The Mustangs put up over 400 yards of rushing and 41 points on the Griz last year. Of course this is a new Montana team with Stitt running the show but this certainly seems like it is setting up to be your typical high scoring Big Sky affair. This is a statement game for both teams, CP looking to show that they can be a factor in the Big Sky and the Griz can continue to build the case that they should be #1 in the FCS.

    FCS Game of the Week
#9 Jacksonville State at #6 Chattanooga 6:00 p.m. SoCon Digital Network- This is the kind of game that could loom large when playoff seedings are sorted out. Last year JSU edged Chattanooga 26-23 in overtime. JSU features a tough defense led by preseason all-Americans Jermaine Hough(DB) and Devaunte Sigler. Both will need to have big games against preseason All-America QB Jacob Huesman. Huesman is a fantastic dual threat QB that threw for 2,700 yards and 23 TDs last year while amassing 1,009 and 14 TDs on the ground. Chattanooga will need to replace standout DE Davis Tull who is competing for a spot on the New Orleans Saints roster. The Mocs do still have some defensive studs, preseason all-American Dee Virgin leads a stout Moc secondary that will make life difficult for JSU QB Eli Jenkins.

I almost always go for the FCS teams and especially MVC teams in these games but I'm making an exception with Ill St vs Iowa. Iowa has never lost to an FCS team and I want the Bison to be the team that ends that streak...sorry Redbirds
