My first thought when the game was announced was to fly into Seattle and driving the rest of it and flying back out of Eugene hitting it up after the game. That looks like it would be the be the cheapest if the game were this year, but I'm not sure how much fun all that driving would be with a 5 year old and 3 year old. Maybe if I can talk grandma into taking the kids for the weekend. Flying into Medford, going before, and driving up looks like it might not be too bad.
Sorry if this is unwelcome advice...
If you're coming all the way out to Oregon, I would suggest finding 6 other amazing things to do in the state other than Crater Lake. While it is beautiful and awe inspiring, it is so far out in the middle nowhere that it can really chew up time getting to/from. There's really not much else to see in that area, either. If, however, you're bagging national parks, I get it. If you still travel between Eugene and CL, consider going through the McKenzie Pass to get there. There's an incredible lava flow that you have to drive through, along with the Dee Wright Observatory, plus also a bunch of waterfalls in the area. Mt. Thielsen and Diamond Lake are also cool areas on the way. Also, if you're all that far down in the state, and if you like whitewater, there's the North Umpqua River along HWY 138 east of Roseburg and the Upper Klamath River east of Ashland for rock-n-roll day trips. The Rogue River west of Grants Pass is an amazing multi-day (3-5 days) with awesome and remote white water, fishing, and camping. The Illinois River is down there as well but I haven't been on it.
Insert something clever here...
