"While Easton Stick actually looked somewhat decent out there in his one half of play...."

And I'm looking forward to seeing Easton play on Thursday.

Heard Trey can't read a nfl defense eh. Sam Darnold slinging it. Should have stayed in college.

There’s a difference between saying “in retrospect Trey needed more college reps to prepare him for the NFL but there is just no way he can turn down 30 million guaranteed as the number 3 overall NFL draft pick” and what you’re saying which is he should have turned down the money.

There is absofrickenlutely no plausible or imaginable reason for turning down $30M* from a legitimate source and for a legitimate morally acceptable purpose on this day, yesterday, or any other day in the foreseeable future. None. Full stop.

I wasn't even talking about money. Ignore the money side for a moment. The point was (and remains) that he would be a better player today had he played another season as a college QB (likely at a P5 school).

Unless one is a religious zealot or similar this is simply not doable. If he can't read an NFL defense then he should see if he can read a 10K and/or 10Q, balance sheet, etc. and pivot. He can afford to buy Warren lunch. He should do just that and then go forth with his millions with a goal to one day become the next MacKenzie Scott.

If your point only applies in an imaginary situation where the biggest factor in the argument is removed, then your point is worthless.

You’re also not telling us anything we don’t already know. Obviously anyone would be better with more reps, more practice, etc. There’s also a non-zero chance of career impacting injury if he stays in college. You take the money. End of discussion.

I think the argument is more that the NFLs collective wisdom was insane to think that drafting a guy who only played 1 season of FCS football would be ready to go immediately or by year 2 at the latest as a full time starter. The kid obviously should take the money if offered and work his ass off to get ready but some skills take repetition in actual game scenarios to build and you can't substitute backup reps in practice to simulate that. See Brock Purdy who even though he was the last overall pick and is fairly limited athletically, was a 4 year FBS starter who learned how to read defenses before entering the NFL. The NFL Overmind should have understood that and he should not have been projected as a 1st round pick that year, had he not been projected that high he would not have left too early for the draft to develop into a starting QB. As it is, he's one of the worst overall draft busts in NFL history but he's not solely to blame.
