    Default 2016 Season

Fargo Post 2 defeats Mandan and its' LHP starter Parker Harm 5-2 for the ND American Legion Championship.

Throughout the entire North Dakota American Legion Class 2A state baseball tournament, Fargo Post 2 – which has a left-handed dominated batting lineup – hadn’t seen an opposing left-handed pitcher.

That was until Fargo Post 2 saw Mandan for the second time and the Chiefs had their ace Parker Harm.

Despite seeing its first left-handed pitcher, Fargo tagged Harm for five runs early and rode Tyler Anderson’s complete game to a 5-2 win over Mandan to win the state championship on Sunday.....
Aside from the first two innings, Harm – who is signed to play baseball at North Dakota State – allowed just four hits over the next six frames. Mandan head coach Ryne Jungling said Harm and starting catcher Trever Leingang – who is signed to baseball at St. Cloud State (Minn.) – gave the team a chance to win.

“(Fargo) jumped on him early and then Parker changed his approach,” Jungling said. “Trever and Parker have been working together for a long time. I don’t call any pitches. They take care of everything. They took care of it after that. They made some adjustments that were really effective. To hold (Fargo) when we are down 5-0, that was huge and they gave us a chance. A 5-0 lead in these games often turns into 10-0 or 12-0. We had chances, but we just didn’t come out on top.”

More on the Jake Malec commit (C/OF) from the Duluth News Tribune.....

The similarities between Jake Malec and Nick Emanuel already were plenty peculiar before Wednesday.

Both are wildly talented catchers — Malec for Proctor, Emanuel for Esko — who hit, and hit powerfully, from the left side. Both have fathers who played college baseball at Minnesota Duluth, and both are prepping to quarterback their respective football teams as seniors this fall.

Malec became a starter for the Rails midway through his eighth-grade season, and hasn’t left the lineup since. This past spring, he used his smooth lefty swing to bat .431 and produced a .570 on-base percentage. When he wasn’t behind the plate, Malec was flummoxing opposing hitters from the pitching mound, where he posted a dominant 1.73 ERA and fanned 29 in 28.1 innings.

Football TE Ben Ellefson's Hawley HS QB, Jordan Harms, to play baseball for the Bison:

Harms had a tremendous spring and summer. He had a stretch of 76 strikeouts in 35 innings with a 0.19 ERA.
