This is awesome news. It will elevate our recruiting and coupled with the SHAC, wrestling could possibly become a revenue sport if it's executed right. Big 12 schedule in the shac.

I know wrestling isnt huge but it's a perception changer and will benefit all sports.

I think that allows the schools to be selective in scheduling (read: We ain't going to UVU)

This makes sense to why SDSU was holding back the merger. Bono told me a few years ago that he would not compete against Iowa State as long as KJ is still the head coach. Can't believe I didn't make the connection sooner.

It's too bad the two don't get along as I get along with both, especially KJ.

Easy now, college wrestling and college hockey are basically equivalents in regards to attendance and viewership.

Maybe the fans of the whiteflagship school should demand that their football program needs to be at the highest level because of NDSU's wrestling program being at the highest level.

Ahhh indeed. Hopefully they still feel like coming to Fargo is acceptable.

From what I have heard NDSU will have a few pretty good home dual opponents this year. I know when I was up in Fargo last week the schedule was not yet finalized but there are some good teams heading into Fargo this year.

11/14 - Bison Open (Home)
11/22 - VA Tech (Home)
12/4-12/5 Cliff Keen (Vegas)
12/29-12/30 Midlands (Evanston, IL)

Cool, thanks! I heard Gopher's aren't sending any starters to the Bison this year, that's a bummer! That's usually a good test for the guys to kick off the year.

Clarify this for me. We are only an affiliate member of the Big 12. We wont be scheduled in regular season duals and if we are it wont count toward conference standings. Correct? So we are only involved in the Big 12 tournament because they needed more members to make it a qualifying event for the nationals. Did I read all of that correctly?

I believe so. But the NCAA doesn't sanction a national duals tournament so duals aren't as big of a deal. There's the National Duals from the Coach's Association that are done by autobid for the dual championship by the conferences so I'm not sure what will happen there. Probably winner of Big 12 tournament will get it, but more teams are invited.
