    Default Some media attention

    From Comcast Sportsnet:

"The Irish probably would’ve been better off from a strength of schedule standpoint if they brought in North Dakota State, Illinois State or some other top-25 team from college football’s second tier than the University of Massachusetts."

You'd certainly think so... unless labels trump reality.

It is nice to see a FBS guy grasping reality. Does not happen often enough.

agreed, TSCF...but the drawback is, is when these games are 5 years scheduled out, we have no idea how good NDSU will be compared to the last 3 years. I personally think they'll still be top tier, winning championships etc.

the problem is if those FBS teams beat NDSU, then NDSU drops drastically. and NDSU stays undefeated while beating the ELO Chess, they continue to move up...so basically the only scenarios are an NDSU win, and sustain large victories throughout the season and the FBS team goes on to do well, or FBS team beats NDSU, and then NDSU really goes on a tear to stay top 40 or top 50. anything top 30 is really good and considered a schedule booster.

But wouldn't NDSU still have a better strength of schedule than UMASS? When UMASS goes 1 and 10 and gets blown out of over 1/2 their games?

thats a pretty fluid ranking, depends who Umass plays and NDSU, in the grand scheme of all CF we will have whats considered a weak OOC schedule, Weber and UND as of right now really drag us down, throw in USD, WIU and they dont help

rest of the MVFC schedule is pretty good but we dont have the P5 team to help raise it up this year so im guessing SOS wise Umass might edge out this year, of course the Math heads on here will probably figure it out
    NDSU Athletics: oderint dum metuant

It is all very hypothetical and unrealistic, but who among us would have thought 10 years ago that Bison and Notre Dame football would appear together in a scheduling discussion??? What a great time to be a Bison fan!

Well, really, the only question that should matter to a school is which teams make their SoS better... NDSU has finished more than 200 spots higher than UMass on Massey before.

It appears Notre Dame, USC, and UCLA are the only 3 FBS schools to not schedule lower division schools.

I thought the entire Big Ten is no longer supposed to schedule FCS schools? I know there is no FBS team that has the balls to schedule NDSU.
