I'm always struck by how genuine Coach K. comes across. And I really think I've got a good antenna for that sort of thing, so I'm thinking he must really be as genuine and down-to-earth as one could imagine. Can any of you that know him better than I do, confirm this.
Bohl himself did an excellent job with the press, IMHO, but certainly his answers and demeanor felt much more pat and scripted than Coach K's do.
If my antenna are correct, this guy must be a real winner in the living room with the parents. I don't know about the recruited kids (I assume so), but parents look for genuineness and truthful answers in these things, so that they can help their son make the best decision for him in the long run. These parents must love Coach K.!
I believe he is the genuine deal. Tells the parents he will take care of there boys as if they were his. The family aspect of NDSU is really good and that makes kids and parents feel great. It is just not for show it is real.

You know that's something that's always intrigued me too. Even before last season started I heard Klieman make comments along the lines of "the Bison may never win a championship again". Which seems odd to hear a new head coach say when typically you expect to hear the usually "playing every season for a championship" type of talk. Then I remember Taylor saying one of the hardest parts of the job at NDSU was "managing expectations". I think publicly answering questions this way by leading off with future success is not guaranteed and every future win should be appreciated is Klieman's way of managing expectations.
At some level as a fan you want to hear him say that ain't nothing over Animal House style and the Bison don't expect to stop dominating the FCS until they say it's over. I can however appreciate him presenting an honest and humble attitude for the public to manage expectations, while at the same time coaching a hungry mindset in practice to drive future success.
Good PR and good coaching in my opinion.
Coach K sure seems real to me. I think my antenna is calibrated to screen out the BS as well. I met him back in 2008 by chance we were staying at the same hotel in the tc. Seemed friendly enough back then when he was wearing evil purple. Also talked with him for about a half hour at the Apple Creek golf thing a few weeks ago. Easy to talk to kind of guy. I asked some pointed questions and he answered them without hesitation. Same with Coach Richman by the way. Both are very approachable.
