With respect to winning 4, 5, or 8 in a row, I don't think it matters much because it doesn't directly impact any of the reasons it's difficult to move up.

Offer to pay for every team's travel's to Fargo for first 4 years. (24 games)

Dipping into thier college playoff money and big dance money and TV revenue would help NDSU by $20+ million /year!
