There is an element of risk to those who were on the squad.
This is when they tightened the rules and put in under athletics.

Do the students that stand in line early in the morning get priority points?
Do the kids that wash the uniforms, repair the equipment and student manage get priority points?
Do the kids that don't letter get priority points?
Do the athletes that are on the team for 1,2,3 or 4 years, but do not finish, and/or do not letter, get priority points?

See what I mean? It's a slippery slope at the very least.

And I can also see why those of you without season tickets, or without a cheerleader as a spouse (male or female) , are not getting football tickets anytime soon!
Some one with the last name of Fanette informed me of this discussion, and now I am lost!

Going right to the point,I happen to know a FB player who earned FOUR letters for FB. I know of, a track and crosscountry runner who earned as many as EIGHT letters from NDSU. Both these men got their Degree also.
Because I also know, first hand a lady who cheered one year for NDSU football, did NOT do basketball or any other sport, quit the cheer squad after FB was over, quit NDSU after that year, and NEVER got any sort of a degree?
Now imagine in 10 years these folks all joining TM, and all getting equal priority points??

Now for one I am a pure Bison Fan and could give a shit when dollars become involved, you someway somehow a fair and equitable system has to be developed?

I normally post some bullshit just to keep things light, but this time I cry BULLSHIT!!!

And, one thing I know for sure...my son who was Thundar for 5 years never got a letter, and never wanted one either. What he GOT was as much Pride as anyone could have in a School, which allowed him to simply BE Thundar, and oh by the way, he got his Masters in Math and Statistics.

    WTF Teammakers....figure this out???

    Letter winners get points.

Interesting points Thundarsdaddy. Loafy forgot about THUNDAR!!!
Imagine 8 LETTERS for a student athlete - WOW - (or even 4 LETTERS) and receiving the same # of pts
(100 pts. which is a $5,000.value) as a person who cheered for one sport (maybe that lady you speak of, did not LETTER with one sport... or maybe she did (?) I guess we don't know the "criteria" for lettering 10-15-20 yrs ago.
But should these 3 senarios end up with the same # of pts? (You used the B.S. word)
And your point about the student who may LETTER, & then quit school. Would they receive 100pts under the present system?

Like a graduated scale or just eliminate the cheer team? Has your son checked on whether he gets priority points for being thundar?? You could hit him up for tickets then!

Yes, thanks, I did know that. But "letter winners in what?" is my ultimate question. Obviously it appears that cheer team members or cheerleaders earn "letters" that qualify. Do you or does anyone else know if Gold Star Marching Band members receive letters? And if so, do they qualify for priority points?

Also, most high schools award "letters" for other non-athletic activities such as drama or debate. Does NDSU award such letters?

Just to be clear, I have no personal interest in this at all. Just wondering, now, if there is more discriminating criteria used than just " letter winners".
