Since 2004, we have averaged fewer than 3 losses per season -- not bad considering the dire warnings we heard from up north about languishing in mediocrity if we moved up.

It's OK to not be OK.
3 MVFC running backs went pro this year.
All these things from the past are fine, but start a new year and past glory is no guarantee of future success.Heck, with no defense, we'll be lucky to win more than one game.

Doesn't look like I have an updated database on my tablet. I'm pretty sure that Montana is the only FCS school close to NDSU in that time frame (i.e. the 11 seasons from 2004-2014.)
I think NDSU is 111-30. Montana is 113-34.
In D3, Mt. Union and Whitewater average about 1 loss per year.
You want some defensive stats? Can't win four in a row without a little defense. Scoring Defense:
Year--Total Points--Average Per Game--Rank in Valley--National Rank
2011 191 12.7 1 2*
2012 173 11.5 1 1*
2013 169 11.3 1 1
2014 225 14.1 1 3
*Through regular season
Dang that lousy 2014 defense.

The only reason some people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.
Paul Fix.
Not a statistic, but something worth noting: when Bison football players made the news, it was for good things they did, not stupid things.
Bison Pride carries off the field and out of the locker room, into the community.
Many thousands are in want of common necessaries; hundreds of thousands are in want of common comforts, sir."
Scrooge-"Are there no prisons?". "Plenty of prisons..."
Scrooge-"And the Union workhouses." . "Are they still in operation?". "Both very busy, sir..."
"Those who are badly off must go there."
"Many can't go there; and many would rather die."
Scrooge- "If they would rather die," "they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population."
