The Redblacks just find a way to screw things up. They have looked terrible in the second half.

Their QB is athletic but is by far the worst at decision making in the league in terms of starters. I’m surprised that Crockett is doing as well as he is when the defense doesn’t have to really worry about the pass game.

    This, from USA Today today:
The article talked about the biggest disappointments in the NFL this year. Here is one of the dozen or so disappointments ...

"Packers' running game [so far in 2019]
While Aaron Rodgers and first-year coach Matt LaFleur still have much to iron out together, Green Bay's running game looks even more lost than the passing attack. The Packers sit at 26th in yards per carry (3.5) and haven't had a run of more than 15 yards. More reps within the outside zone scheme could get lead ball carrier Aaron Jones and the offensive line in sync, but will LaFleur exhibit patience? In the Week 4 loss to the Eagles, the Packers opted for passing plays on nearly 80% of their offensive snaps."

Given this situation, it is too bad the Packers didn't give John Crockett a try. What would they have had to lose by trying him in a real game situation? The RBs they have now are not doing well. Would Crockett have done worse? I doubt it.

Perhaps the offensive line is the Packers running game problem. Perhaps Crockett just wasn't good enough for the NFL. But on the other hand, maybe the Pack would have done well to at least give him a shot and see.

If not for a shoulder injury, Crockett likely would have gotten his shot and then some as the everyday back. It sucks, but I guess those are the breaks in the NFL.

Unfortunately Running Backs are a dime a dozen in the NFL. Unless you are truly special, its pretty easy to move on to something else. Plus, I have heard its about the easiest position to learn, so the cost of replacing a guy is pretty low.

Just look at Jordan Howard for the Eagles. He is a consistent producer and is still looked at as completely expendable. If you are not named Saquon, Zeke, or Gurley, then you are completely expendable.

And unfortunately, even if they are special, running backs aren't getting a whole lot of respect once their rookie contracts are up. Unless the game goes back to emphasizing the run, Le'Veon Bell might be the last RB to get a big payday.

Uhhh Gurley? Elliot? Heck even David Johnson. Guys like Barkley and McCaffrey will also likely follow suit.
