You can't play the victim card if you don't step up and provide at least some sort of a baseline for the entire subdivision. Once the FCS gets rid of the non/partial-scholarship leagues and gets all their prospective conferences to join the playoffs, then you can start saying maybe FCOA is unfair.
I don't think anybody here is saying it is unfair. I think the point that gets lost on many people is that, eventually, it becomes about how much money schools have available to spend. That becomes problematic for schools like NDSU if the overwhelming majority of FCS can't afford 63 scholarships AND FCOA. Why? Well, one solution is LESS Scholarships and FCOA. Something to keep an eye on.

What is the point of being in a conference/division where some schools are at an inherent disadvantage? What fun is it to beat the equivalent of Drake 6 times a year?
Schools do have the ability to compete. Most don't work hard to do it.

We only play SDSU one, maybe two times a year though.

I kid, I kid. I hear what you're saying. There will be a leveling coming. Some will be topside, others not so much. NDSU is simply positioning to be topside.

I didn't play the victim card, at least that wasn't my intention. Sports is about competition, without a level playing field competition cannot exist. The Pioneer league is not competitive, which kind of proves the point. IMHO

    haha

I think/hope SDSU is also positioning themselves to be topside with the new facilities and COA.

FCoA move by NDSU seems consistent with a strategy to be offered an FBS conference invite without asking/begging for an invite.

Sales 101: put it out there and let them be the 1st to talk.

How is it any different than say Northwestern playing football in the Big 10? Do they *really* have a shot at winning?

I think they are, but again, their biggest knack is going to be Brookings. Sioux Falls helps, but they need to engage that community. I think most of us here would not be upset if SDSU was to move up with us when the time came. Yeah you haven't won titles, but you've definitely shown the ability and commitment to compete.

They played in the Rose Bowl in 1995. So, yes. They have won the Big 10 Title in football (or shared it) 3 times in the last 20 years.

Ummm... three conference titles in the last 20 years. They've got a tougher time hanging on the basketball court, they've never made the NCAA tournament.
